We had our wedding at the Orange. The food was incredible and the service from the Orange team was excellent. Staff were very helpful and made sure everyone’s glasses were always topped up. We had a florist set up lots of flowers and were also able to drop items off by at the start of the day, which the Orange team set up for us. Everyone was super helpful and the food was delicious.

- Venue Hire Insurance: Certain venues may require couples to obtain event insurance to cover any damages or liabilities that may occur during the wedding. This insurance typically needs to be purchased separately and is an additional cost to consider.
- Decoration Fees: If you plan to decorate the venue with additional items beyond what the venue provides, such as extra lighting, floral arrangements, or draping, there may be decoration fees associated with setup, teardown, or any necessary equipment rentals.
- Vendor Fees: Some venues charge fees for using outside vendors, such as photographers, florists, or musicians, who are not included in the venue's preferred vendor list. These fees may be in the form of vendor permits or surcharges for bringing in external services.

Your Guide to Hiring Affordable Wedding Venues in London
What counts as an affordable wedding venue in London?
An affordable wedding venue is one where the total cost for your guest count fits your budget – not necessarily one with the lowest headline hire fee. Catering, staffing, furniture and other extras can make a venue with a low hire fee more expensive overall.
London wedding venues use several pricing models, so compare the total cost rather than the headline rate:
|
Pricing model |
What it means |
What to check |
|---|---|---|
|
Hire fee |
You pay a fixed fee for the space |
Whether catering, staff, furniture and cleaning are included |
|
Minimum spend |
You commit to spending a set amount, usually on food and drink |
What counts towards the minimum and whether service charge is extra |
|
Per person |
You pay a set price for each guest |
What is included in the per-person rate |
|
Dry hire |
You hire the space only |
Which suppliers, furniture, bar and staff you need to arrange |
|
Exclusive hire |
You hire the whole venue |
Which spaces and services are included |
|
Reception only |
You book the venue for the reception rather than the ceremony |
What is included and how long you have the space |
Ask every venue the same question: what is the total for my guest count, my date and my catering arrangement?
How does guest count change the price?
Guest count can have a major impact on the total cost of your wedding venue. Tagvenue’s London wedding venues show three broad pricing bands:
|
Small |
up to 120 people |
average £2,000 minimum spend per event |
|
Medium |
170 to 250 people |
average £3,000 minimum spend per event |
|
Large |
over 300 people |
average £3,000 hire fee per day |
A fixed £2,000 minimum spend works out at roughly £67 per person for 30 guests, but £25 per person for 80. With per-person pricing, the total increases as the guest list grows. This is why it’s worth comparing both the pricing model and the total cost for your specific guest count.
Practical bands to search by:
- Under 30 people – Private dining rooms and restaurants can work well for smaller weddings. The Windsor Suite at The Milestone Hotel and Residences in Kensington holds up to 30 people from £45 per person.
- 30–60 people – Compare pubs, restaurants and smaller event spaces. Vienna Salon at Fidelio in Farringdon holds up to 70 people from £75 per person.
- 60–120 people – Look at halls, function rooms and mid-sized hotels.
- 120+ people – Banqueting halls and larger event venues offer more capacity. Old Parish Hall at Core Clapton in Hackney holds up to 200 people from £3,500 per event, and Waterfront Suite at Holiday Inn London – Brentford Lock holds up to 400 people from £4,000 hire fee per day.
Check the seated capacity in every case, as the headline maximum may refer to a standing layout.
Budget, capacity, and venue type
Wedding venue types use different pricing models, so the lowest headline rate does not necessarily mean the lowest total cost. Compare the price against your guest count, hire length and what is included.
|
Venue type |
Typical price |
Typical capacity |
|---|---|---|
|
Hall |
Average £80 hire fee per hour |
200-300 people |
|
Function Room |
Average £1,250 hire fee per event |
100-180 people |
|
Event Venue |
Average £1,860 hire fee per event |
150-350 people |
|
Banqueting Hall |
Average £4,000 hire fee per day |
200-400 people |
|
Hotel |
Average £5,000 minimum spend per event |
90-230 people |
What to consider with each venue type:
- Community halls – Lower hire costs and more flexibility over suppliers, but check whether you need to arrange furniture, styling and staff separately.
- Pub wedding venues – Lower hire costs and more flexibility over suppliers, but check whether you need to arrange furniture, styling and staff separately.
- Wedding restaurants and private dining rooms – Well suited to smaller guest lists and reception-only celebrations. Check whether menus are priced per person or against a minimum spend.
- Dry hire and warehouse venues – Give you more control over suppliers and styling, but check what you need to arrange separately, including furniture, catering, bar and staffing.
- Hotels – Can combine venue space, catering and accommodation in one place. Check package inclusions and any restrictions on external suppliers.
- Cheap banquet halls – Worth considering for larger guest lists, particularly when you need space for a seated meal and dancing.
Areas of London with lower-priced wedding venues
Among the venues currently featured on this page, some of the lowest entry prices are in Maida Vale, Hackney and areas further from central London, including Bromley and Brentford.
- Maida Vale – 1st Floor at The Elgin, Maida Vale Station, from £500 minimum spend per session for up to 80 people. Upper and Lower Hall at The Amadeus, Warwick Avenue Station, from £200 hire fee per hour for up to 150 people.
- Hackney – The Orchard Room at The Glass House – Springfield Park, Stoke Newington Station, from £1,815 hire fee per session for up to 150 people.
- Southwark – Sublime Wedding at Swan, Shakespeare’s Globe, Mansion House Station, from £850 hire fee per morning for up to 70 people, with a river view.
- Farringdon – Vienna Salon at Fidelio, Farringdon Station, from £75 per person for up to 70 people.
- Outer London – The Wellington Suite at The Bromley Court Hotel from £995 hire fee per session for up to 150 people.
Balance the venue price against guest transport costs, particularly if you’re looking outside central London. Check the nearest station, late-night transport options and nearby accommodation before you book.
All-inclusive package or dry hire – which works out cheaper?
It depends on your guest count, what is included and how much you want to organise yourself. Wedding packages can bundle the venue with services such as catering, furniture, bar and staffing, while dry hire gives you more control over the suppliers you use. Compare the total cost of each option rather than the venue fee alone.
Before you compare quotes confirm:
- Can you use any caterer, choose from an approved list, or use in-house catering only?
- Is external Asian, halal or kosher catering permitted, and does a kitchen surcharge apply?
- Can you bring your own alcohol, and what is the corkage fee?
- Are tables, chairs, linen, glassware, sound system and cleaning included?
- Who handles set up and clears down, and are those hours included in your hire time?
If you choose dry hire, factor catering, furniture, staffing, bar service, equipment and set-up time into the total before comparing it with a package price.
Should you book the ceremony and reception in the same venue?
Not necessarily. Holding the ceremony at a register office or place of worship and booking a separate venue for the reception can give you more choice when working to a budget. Pubs, restaurants and halls are all worth considering for a reception-only celebration.
Booking the ceremony and reception in one venue can make the day simpler by avoiding guest transfers between locations. If you want to hold a civil ceremony , check that the space is licensed for ceremonies. If your ceremony is taking place elsewhere, compare wedding reception venues and check exactly what is included in the booking price.
How to choose an affordable wedding venue in London, and what to confirm before booking
If your date is flexible, compare different days of the week and times of year, as hire fees and minimum spends can vary by date. Search using your actual guest count and preferred date rather than filtering on price alone.
Then work through the shortlist:
- Capacity – Confirm how many guests the space can accommodate in your preferred layout. Maximum capacity may refer to a standing event, so check the seated capacity and allow space for a dance floor, band or other set-up you need.
- Budget – Expect around £2,500 hire fee per day, or £1,000–£4,000 minimum spend. Ask what the figure includes before comparing venues.
- Location – Check the nearest station, journey time from central London, late-night transport, parking and step-free access.
- Catering – Check whether catering is in-house, from an approved supplier list or open choice, as well as corkage and any dietary or cultural requirements.
- Licensing and restrictions – Confirm the civil ceremony licence if needed, alcohol licence, music curfew and event end time.
- What is included – Confirm whether furniture, staff, bar service, sound equipment, lighting and cleaning are included in the price.
Before paying a deposit, get a written quote for your exact date and guest count. Check the hire fee or minimum spend, VAT, catering and bar costs, corkage, service and staffing charges, cleaning, deposit and cancellation terms. The quote should also confirm your hire times, overtime rates, set-up and clear-down, external supplier rules, accessibility and any noise restrictions.

Verified Reviews of Affordable Wedding Venues in London
Fantastic staff who went above and beyond… special thank you to Luke, Sophie and Ryan Delicious food, huge portions to a very very high standard. Great environment was so friendly and warm, staff cared and went out of their way to help if they could. Quick response times to any questions. They made the wedding day, even guest commented on how friendly staff were.
We had our wedding reception in the Drawing Room & Edinburgh Suite at Grand Connaught Rooms. It was absolutely amazing and our guests said it was one of the best weddings they'd been to. Everyone loved the food, especially the beef. The staff were world class, thank you Abdul for looking after us all night. Thanks to Francesca and Amber for all the planning and support. It was perfect and the best decision we made to have our reception at this gorgeous venue.
Absolutely amazing, we had our wedding there and it was the best night ever. Our guests loved the place and the ballroom is perfect as a dance floor. Shirley has been absolutely wonderful while dealing with the logistic beforehand and on the day the Dans and the team were so helpful and professional, everything ran so smoothly it was exactly what we expected our wedding party to be like. We could not recommend that place enough. 5 stars! Thanks so much guys ❤️
Elizabeth and Teo were really easy to contact throughout the whole process and very accommodating to our needs. The boat was decorated beautifully for our wedding. We had an amazing time, all our guests loved it and we couldn’t be happier with our choice of venue!
The venue was stunning and completely captured the beauty of flora, fauna and wildlife that the UK has to offer. It required very little additional decoration to rooms for the ceremony or reception. We opted for the BBQ catering for our wedding and all our guests were very complimentary about the food. If you need to plan a wedding on a budget this hidden gem in London is the place to consider.
A truly five star experience! Our guests and vendors couldn't stop talking how polite and helpful the staff were. The room was beautifully decorated, I only added flowers for the tables. The food was amazing, all nine dishes. One of the cake was smashed on route and the staff got the cake company to send a new one. Also, the cake boards were bigger than the cake stands and they got their pastry chef to carefully place the cakes on our cake stands. Even when I was not happy with some of the planning aspect the manager was very quick to deal with it. We had a great night!!!
Hoxton is a great venue and we would fully recommend it. We had our wedding here and it offered an alternative to most venues - being unusual and quirky without compromising a nice ambience. Laila was very helpful and accommodating and was able to help with most of our questions and queries.
