Restaurant Venues Hire Guide

London has a world-class food scene. Whether you’re looking for a French-style bistro, sushi restaurant, or Thai food joint, you’ll find it here. Sharing food is one of the best ways to connect with your family, friends, or colleagues and we highly encourage you to try a group dining experience if you’ve never done this. With Tagvenue you can have a table lined up today, without calling dozens of locations, or any additional fuss. Just make a few enquiries and book the restaurant with the best offer for you!

Because of how diverse the London food scene is, it may be a little difficult to make your final pick. Luckily, we made a list of things to consider when hiring a restaurant venue:

  • Cuisine - traditional British pub grub, French haute cuisine or spicy Indian specialities? London’s restaurants have got it all. Try to match the type of restaurant with the type of situation or party you’re hiring for. If you invited an important business partner for dinner, you should go for a relatively fancy experience, while a birthday party dinner would require more of a casual restaurant setting.
  • Size - how many guests are you inviting to your event? If you’re going out with a group of 2-8, all you’re going to need is one table. For a more intimate setting to enjoy with your friends, a lot of restaurants offer private dining rooms. However, if you’re planning a large celebration (such as a wedding), you may need to hire the entire restaurant. If you’re concerned about the amount of seats you’re going to need, Tagvenue lets you filter for restaurants that have the sitting or standing capacity to meet your needs.
  • Location - how easy will it be for you to reach your restaurant venue? Depending on how you and your guests want to commute (by foot, public transport or car) you should think of things such as the proximity to the closest tube station, amount of parking spaces (and if the parking comes with the venue hire) and how close it is to a major train station or airport if you have someone visiting from afar. You can even look for restaurant venues in your own neighbourhood so that the commute will be easy and smooth.
  • Terms and conditions - did you know that free restaurant hire is possible even in Central London? Some restaurants work on a minimum spend basis. That means you’re only required to spend a certain amount on food and drinks – no need to worry about paying a separate hire fee. Also be aware that some of the city’s high-class restaurants charge a separate service fee after the meal, so be aware of that when reading through venue pages or contacting restaurant managers.
  • Prices - this refers to both the hire for a private room/table as well as menu prices. If you’re with a group, ask them what kind of restaurant they would like to go to. Some restaurants have special offers and all-you-can-eat deals that could potentially help you save money. For a bigger venue hire, you can try to pick a few venues that you’d like to try and calculate which offer is the most affordable.
  • Alcohol licence - check the details to see if the restaurant’s policy meets your expectations. Some restaurants allow you to bring your own alcohol for separate events, but usually you will have to buy alcohol from the venue. Some restaurants can sell alcohol only until a certain time (like 22:00), so make sure to check the venue listing for more information.

If it’s your first time hiring out a venue for a bigger event or party, maybe you want to search for a venue with great customer service? We have a way of offering such venues through our Supervenues program. Going for a Supervenue ensures good and fast contact and smooth service that will help you focus on other aspects of your party like your guest lists or entertainment.

How to hire a restaurant venue in London

If you’ve decided to hire a restaurant venue, and you’ve made your pick with Tagvenue, here’s what you need to do. Allocate your budget between the venue hire, catering and beverages, and entertainment (if you wish to hire a musician or band for your party). Contact the venue manager about the event, explain what you want to achieve, and ask for their terms and conditions. Check whether you can get a discount from your venue if you hold your private dining event during the week (some restaurants advertise with special offers for off-peak times). Consider whether to set a dress code (formalwear would be expected for a wedding reception, but you can skip it for friends and family gatherings).

If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to the venue manager of your choice or check out the FAQ section below:

Booked Whole Venue at The Green Man
Easy communication with the team & quick response times Great venue, really flexible and accommodating. We were able to bring a small band in and also use their music system. The food was very tasty and variety which suited multiple dietary requirements. The staff on the night were lovely! Hugo (the new manager) even came in on his birthday to ensure the night ran smoothly! Will definitely use them again in the future for our events and recommend to others! We all had the best night, thank you so much!

Booked Large Private Dining Room at Brasserie Blanc Southbank
The private party room is ideally located at the back away from the main restaurant with its own drinks service. We pre-paid for the meal and used their "Key" system so that coupe or families in our party could charge their drinks during the event to the Key account and settle their own bills at the end avoiding the need to apportion a large bill by who drank what. The staff were friendly and helpful, we were invited to a tasting event to try some of the food and wines on the menu for our event.

Booked Entire Venue at Mina’s
Venue was stunning, food was delicious and the ambience for the event was perfect. Private dining area was the perfect balance between intimate but left to feel as if you’re forgotten! The managers of this venue were amazing to work with also! Very accommodating. Despite booking the private dining until 4.30, guests were allowed to stay until 6!

Booked Britain's biggest houseboat at Britain's biggest houseboat
The boat was beautifully decorated & furnished. The top deck was open & the terrace was perfect for our sit down evening meal. There were also plenty of smaller areas that individual groups could break off into to socialize. Booking & arranging the whole event was so simple with Jeremy, it was my first time leading an event of this scale so it was great to have his experience to hand. I would definitely recommend the boat & Jeremy ??

Booked Large Private Dining Room at Brasserie Blanc Southbank
We held our small wedding reception here in July. They really made it easy to arrange everything, were easily contactable and responsive. They were accommodating about a friend coming earlier to bring the cake and we had not really given much direction about table settings and layout etc, but we're so happy with how it was done once we arrived. They had staff who were just looking after our room and so we felt well taken care of, topping up our drinks etc, checking we had everything we needed and very much felt like we had our own private section. Overall so happy and had the best day, would definitely recommend!
