I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this venue. Rented out the private room upstairs for a pub quiz style event and everything went extremely smoothly in a very nicely decorated and laid out space. Staff were incredibly friendly and contributed to a great afternoon and even offered to clean out our decorations after - wouldn’t fault a thing. Highly recommended !
I recently hosted my 40th birthday party at The Albany, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. I rented the basement for around 100 guests, and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. First and foremost, Ellie was outstanding! She helped me with all the booking details, from arranging the menu to organizing the room layout. She was quick to respond, super friendly, and just made the whole planning process feel smooth and stress-free. I knew things were in great hands, thanks to her attention to detail. On the day of the party, two managers, Inka and Iwo, were there to keep everything running seamlessly. They were both fantastic—extremely attentive, helpful, and made sure all my guests felt taken care of. The bar staff were just as brilliant, and their energy really added to the night. The basement itself is a gem of a venue. There’s a private staircase that leads down to it, giving it an exclusive feel. While the room was slightly smaller than I expected from the photos, it was still spacious enough, and the cozy seating areas like booths and corner seats matched the pictures perfectly. It was great to have these chill-out areas for guests who wanted to relax. Setting up music was super easy—I just plugged in my phone, and the sound system was good to go. My friends raved about the food, especially the chicken dippers! I didn’t get a chance to try much myself, but both my gluten-free and vegan friends loved their options, which speaks volumes about the variety and quality. All in all, I feel really lucky to have found this place. The Albany’s basement is the perfect venue if you're looking for a cool, affordable space with amazing staff who genuinely make a difference. Big shoutout to Ellie, Inka, and Iwo for making my birthday unforgettable. Highly recommend!
Staff introduced themselves and were really helpful. Food was plentiful and very tasty, great sharing starters and dessert courses with lots of veggie choices too. Tank Room space was great - it meant that we could be together and rather away from the very rammed main areas. Very busy pub, great location, great atmosphere
We had the space at the back of the pub, downstairs leading into the garden. The management and staff made everything so simple and made me completely relax about the whole event! Everything went so smoothly and I had one of the best and most memorable evenings ever. All friends and family loved the venue and I couldn’t fault it whatsoever.
Have just celebrated my Dads 50th birthday here which I organised. Having searched high and low for a venue I came across the Alwyne castle. This venue stood out straight away for me, not only because of the beautiful rustic conservatory area, but also the events manager Lea, who was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Planning a party can be quite stressful but my millions of questions were answered always promptly and in detail, and I was never made to feel like I was badgering her. The whole booking and organising process was surprisingly pleasant and easy and all of my requests were met with no hassle. The day of the event was everything we wished for and more! The conservatory area and garden makes a fantastic venue which can be used for sit down gatherings as well as full on dancing and partying. I found the staff to be extremely attentive and someone was always asking if we were OK or if we needed anything. The drinks came out on time and were constantly replenished without us having to ask. The food was delicious and went down great with my guests, especially the burgers which disappeared within seconds! Most importantly my Dad had a 50th birthday he will never forget and we owe that partly to the Alwyne castle team so THANK YOU! And I would 1000% recommend this venue
Olivia was a pleasure to work with from when we started planning our wedding to the execution of the day. She is incredibly creative and full of great ideas and suggestions, a lot of which we took on board when planning our big day. She is also very accommodating and helpful, nothing we asked of he was too much and on the day of the wedding she made sure we were happy and any concerns addressed straight away. I really loved working with Olivia and owe a lot of the success of our wedding day to her creativity and meticulous planning.
The conservatory was perfect for my party, tastefully decorated with lots of natural light and space for kids to run around. Very well located for public transport, easy parking and more partying on Upper St later in the evening. Service was great too. They kindly accommodated my specific needs. All my guests were impressed with the choice of venue.
Fantastic venue- Max the barman was brilliant, great guy and kept the drinks going all night. Location is brilliant, and we were allowed to order in our own food. We plugged in our own music near the end, but the bar's own music was great too for background vibes. The room was the perfect size for about 35 people, and didn't get too hot (it has air con!). It's great as to use as your own space, just as they say, a bit like your own house party. Would definitely recommend!
