Winter Wedding Venues Hire Guide

We love London winter wedding venues – here’s why:

  • They’re a great deal – Wedding venues can be hired at significantly lower rates in winter (up to 50% off!). If you decide to get married in the low season, the range of venues you’re able to choose from is likely to increase a lot.

  • They’re unique – From charming country houses that can be turned into festive fairylands to cosy pubs for smaller weddings, all winter wedding venues we’re listing have a really special vibe. See for yourself!

  • They allow you to get creative – The vast majority of our winter wedding venues in London make great canvases for designing a beautiful reception. Whether you’re after a Christmas theme or loads of glitter, we’re sure to help you book a space that suits your vision.

Planning Tips and Tricks for a Winter Wedding in London:

  • First things first: keep it warm – Double check if the venue’s heating is working properly and make sure your winter wedding venue will have had time to warm up before your ceremony or reception. Also, why don’t you serve a delicious hot drink on arrival, like spiced up mulled wine?

  • Stay stylish and don’t freeze – Dress yourselves and your bridesmaids in style but make sure they won’t get cold. In terms of the venue, keep in mind that you will need some space for the guests to leave their outerwear.

  • Don’t forget the days are getting short – Think about tying the knot earlier in the day to ensure you have enough time after the ceremony for outdoor group photos. Your photographer will thank you!

  • Keep the winter spirit alive – Sparkles, fairy lights, wooden decor elements, festive red and green, white winter wonderland… you name it. Last but not least, say thank you to your guests with winter or Christmas-themed favours.

Tips for Finding the Perfect Winter Wedding Venue:

  1. Off-Peak Advantage: Opting for a winter wedding often means lower prices due to off-peak seasons. Take advantage of this by exploring venues offering special packages or discounts for winter bookings.
  2. Flexible Dates: Be flexible with your wedding date to capitalise on lower rates. Consider weekdays or Sundays for your celebration, as venues typically offer reduced prices for non-weekend bookings.
  3. All-Inclusive Packages: Look for venues offering all-inclusive packages that bundle essential services like catering, decor, and entertainment. This streamlines the planning process and can save you money in the long run.
  4. DIY Decor: Get creative and incorporate DIY elements into your wedding decor to add a personal touch while saving on expenses. Simple touches like handmade centrepieces or crafted signage can elevate the ambience without breaking the budget.
  5. Negotiate Wisely: Don't hesitate to negotiate with venue managers to secure the best possible deal. Be transparent about your budget and requirements, and you may be pleasantly surprised by the discounts or additional perks they're willing to offer.

Finding the perfect cheap winter wedding venue in London has endless possibilities. By exploring diverse districts, considering off-peak advantages, and leveraging smart planning strategies, you can create a magical celebration that exceeds your expectations without compromising on style or quality. When’s the best time to host a winter wedding in London?

The winter season falls anywhere between December to February. However, we don’t recommend having a wedding during the Christmas season unless you're decided on a Christmas wedding. That’s when venues raise their rates, and because of multiple corporate holiday parties, you may have much less options to choose from if you wait until the last minute with the booking. If you’re flexible with the date of your winter wedding, we suggest considering dates between mid-January to late February. That’s when many venues have a low season, which means you’ll have higher chances of booking excellent venues for much lower cost as venues usually lower their rates during the off-peak season.

Where in London can I find the best winter wedding venues?

Many fabulous venues can be found in and around Central London. Check Soho and Covent Garden if you’re looking for a contemporary space that is less formal. If you’re thinking of having a fairytale wedding, swing by Mayfair and Knightsbridge, these areas are well known for a wide selection of beautiful venues with a luxurious feel.

Booked The Conservatory at The Chesterfield Mayfair
A beautiful classical hotel venue with professional, warm and genuine staff! We held our intimate wedding here with around 20 of our nearest and dearest - held in the library, with dinner and cake cutting in the conservatory and then back to the library room which was reconfigured to allow for drinks and dancing. This is a beautiful classic hotel but the kindness and professionalism of everyone who works there really added the magic to our day. Their demeanour on first impressions made it a very easy decision for us to book to have our wedding at the Chesterfield. Their attention to detail was also impeccable. Sam, our new friend, who helped us plan and execute our big day flawlessly carries her job out to a very high standard whilst being humble and kind. She has worked at the hotel a long time and is very knowledgeable in terms of suppliers, area, hotel. From the food, the classical decor, personalised cocktails and the comfortable rooms, everything was exceptional. This is a fantastic hotel with incredible staff. Please go and see them if you’re looking to host a wedding/event and I promise you will not be disappointed.

Booked Function Suite at The Dickens Inn
We had our wedding reception at The Dickens Inn and everything went wonderful! It's an amazing location - St Katharine docks are very beautiful, it's a walkable distance to The Tower Bridge, so you have lots of beautiful photo opportunities for your wedding shots. Our guests also really enjoyed the balcony in the Pickwick room - it was very nice to go and sit there, enjoying the view of the docks. Function Suite is very spacious, for the evening staff also reorganises the room, so you have space for the proper dance floor and partying. Very attentive and professional staff, special thanks go to Agata and Bogdan with whom we worked closely to organise our wedding. Agata was very helpful and responsive, and was always available to answer our questions. Bogdan was an event manager on the day, and also he and the team were in charge of putting up the decor. Room looked amazing with the decorations and lights! Everything went smoothly and we didn’t have any issues, all deliveries from external vendors were accepted by the staff, so we could enjoy our day. Thank you The Dickens Inn team for our wonderful wedding day!

Booked Whole venue at The Alice House Queen's Park
The venue staff were fantastic. They were very accommodating and made our day go as seamlessly as possible, and even joined in with the dancing which added to the fun and energy of the night. Aaron managed our event and did a great job! He saved the pressed flowers from our cake and laminated them for us to keep which was a very special touch! All of our guests commented on how delicious the food was, and there were lots of options to chose from. The venue worked really well as a wedding reception venue - we had a standing cocktail event with food served in a corner nook. There was a great space for DJ & dancing, with lots of quieter corners for people to sit down and chat, and some outside space as well. The music sound was great and we had a microphone for speeches as well as some live singing. Though it’s a central London venue, with easy transport links, the area didn’t feel crowded or busy and the security staff were good at keeping the venue for us and our guests.

Booked Orangery & Courtyard at No.11 Cavendish Square
This venue came with their own catering staff. They were so professional on the day. Also before with tasting day that was setup with management. The management team and staff was so helpful right throughout the process with organising the registra for the ceremony. My wife and I was greatfull for their help. Before my wife and I found this beautiful venue we had a look at other venue in the area. We found others that we liked but the price just for the venue alone (not including catering and music) was way out of our budget. so when we stumble upon this venue, to be honest I thought it was too good to be true, mainly because of location also considering what other venues in the same area was charging. A lot of my friends who attended our wedding have been in contact with this venue for their wedding. I highly recommend this venue for anyone looking for a venue that's less than 4k and able to host 90ppl max for ceremony and 120 seated for reception.

Booked Function Suite at The Dickens Inn
We got married on December 17th and had the perfectly magical day. From our initial contact with Agata in March 2022 through months of preparation with Agata and Eleonora, to the day with Bogdan, Jack and team, everything was amazing. The venue was stunning, all the staff attentive and professional, and the food delicious. We couldn’t have asked for more especially as we had a winter wedding so the venue decor was just perfect with fairy lights and Christmas decorations. We even had snow on the ground which made for awesome wedding photos.

Booked The Asylum Room at Home House
This was the first venue that we saw during our wedding venue hunting. Elegant Georgian terrace house with a stunning staircase for those gorgeous wedding photos. As our wedding was done a few days before Christmas, the venue decorations were festive which added to that special romantic feel. The staff especially Nicola Lyons, the events coordinator was very good. She was very approachable, organized and she really accommodated all of our requirements especially food related ones and last minute requests. I think it was value for money given the gorgeous venue, the wonderful staff and the quality of service that we got during our event. The service staff for the day led by Hassan was also excellent. They were all very professional, polite and accommodating. We also got reduced prices for the bachelor and bachelorette rooms which were full of character and we were able to use Portman Square (a locked garden square in front of the venue). Portman Square was also a perfect setting for our wedding sparklers group photos. We booked the Asylum Room which is the old library of the house. Our guests loved how elegant it looked and it was perfect for our small group requirement. The warren of rooms and corridors also added a quirky feel. It was a magical day that we will never forget. Overall, Home House is a great London wedding venue and I couldn’t recommend it more.
