Graduation Party Venues Hire Guide

Finding the perfect graduation party venue in London – tips and tricks:

  • Pay attention to the surroundings – as graduation parties in the UK are hosted during the summer months, it would be a shame not to make use of good weather. It’s a great idea to look for a graduation party venue with an adjacent green area. Or maybe you’re after something in central London? We’ve listed the most gorgeous graduation party venues in Soho, Covent Garden, Clerkenwell and other charming parts of London.
  • Book the graduation party venue in advance – the best spaces book out months before the event date. It’s better not to leave the search until the last minute – don’t miss your opportunity for the best venue!
  • Make sure the graduation party venue is big enough – there has to be enough space for everyone, but you don’t want a venue you can’t fill either. Also, a graduation party without dancing isn’t a graduation party. Don’t forget about the dance floor to show off everyone’s best moves!

Graduation Party Venues in London FAQ

What types of venues can I book for my graduation party in London?

When you're looking for a place to host your graduation party, the options in London are endless. There are so many types of venues to choose from: bars, function rooms, terraces, gardens, basements—even whole venues! And we haven't even gotten to vaults and rooftops yet. You can also choose between indoor and outdoor settings depending on what type of weather you're hoping for (we recommend indoor if you're expecting rain). Whatever kind of venue you're looking for, we've got it covered!

What should a graduation party have?

Here are some ideas for what to include at your next graduation party:

  • Drinks: Everyone loves a good drink, so make sure that you have plenty of options on hand. You can ask the guests in advance if they have any allergies or restrictions so that you can keep everyone safe and happy. Some great drinks include wine coolers, beer, champagne, some fun cocktails and whatever else you decide to get!
  • Food: Food is also an important part of any party. You don't want your guests to go hungry, so make sure there is plenty of food available for everyone to eat throughout the night. You might want to consider having a buffet-style setup with multiple stations where people can pick up their favourite foods without waiting in line too long.
  • Entertainment: The entertainment doesn't have to be anything fancy—just something fun for people to do while they're waiting for food or after their meal has been digested enough, so they feel comfortable getting up from their chairs again (that's usually when the best conversations start happening anyway). For sure don’t forget about the DJ or some live music to keep everyone dancing!

What are some great graduation party themes?

Here are some ideas for your next party:

  • Classic Graduation Party Theme: This theme is perfect for those who want to keep it simple and classy. It's all about black and white, with hints of gold and silver. You can decorate with balloons in the school colours, and maybe even have a photo booth where guests can take pictures as they graduate!
  • School memories: If you're looking for something more fun than classic, this is an awesome option! It's all about celebrating your favourite school memories at this party! You can have games centred around school subjects like English or maths (there are tons of websites that offer printables), or just have a fun time drinking and dancing the night away!
  • Sports Party Theme: If you love watching sports with your friends then this is definitely the theme for you! Make sure that everyone knows ahead of time, so they can dress accordingly—maybe even wear their favourite team's jersey or hat!
  • Back to the 90s: You could do a '90s party—so many people love the music, TV shows, and movies from that decade. Or maybe you want to take it back even further: '80s style is also super popular right now!

Booked Pavilion and Edgson room at Westminster Boating Base
I hosted my graduation dinner for 90 guests at the Westminster Boating Based on 20th July 2019. It was truly a magical day. One of many reasons I chose this venue was because it had a lot of natural lighting but on the event day the team exceeded my expectations with the service. The catering staff were extremely professional and attentive with all my guests. My guests loved the canapes, there was a continuous flow of canapes for the reception and the guests loved the terrace where they were able to chat and enjoy the fabulous view. The event team and Cherie the lead Manager were open to so many of my ideas, I had a harpist play music during reception and dinner, Zumba instructor for the disco, 2019 balloons and other decors that I wanted to add. The dinner food was absolutely delicious and I was able to do a food tasting months before hand. Drinks were flowing aswell. The Maestro was a great addition to the event, it helped to provide order and inform guests of where they should go. The DJ is very dynamic, he mixed up the songs and got everyone on the dance floor. Overall, the team are extremely experienced and flexible. I would highly recommend this venue for all and any event.

Booked The Drawing Room at The Marquis Cornwallis
Great very central location! The dialogue with the Marquis Cornwallis was very straight forward and they catered to all our small requests. The menu was priced very competitively for London standards with plenty of choice and flexibility for special dietary requirements. The food was delicious and especially the typical hearty British pub dishes and desserts were delicious. The staff was extremely friendly as well!
