About this space

The Nave is a private event space in St Ethelburga's Centre occupying the former church's central hall and defined by its double-height volume.

Design: The interior shows exposed stone arches, a raised timber-clad chancel and an intact stained-glass window at one end. Contemporary glass-fronted meeting rooms and a mezzanine sit along the aisle side, creating a clear contrast between original masonry and modern fittings.

Features: A built-in PA system and speakers are available. The hire permits own music and external DJs. The space includes Wi‑Fi, abundant natural daylight, a cleared stone floor suitable for a dance area, step-free guest access and accessible toilets.

Ideal for: Community groups and creative organisations seeking a relaxed, social setting suited to informal seated gatherings or standing receptions.

What sets it apart: The Nave delivers natural acoustics that suit both amplified and acoustic music performances.

What guests say: The space is supported by an attentive onsite events team and flexible hire arrangements.

This is a very special venue - which feels like being transported to another world. Ioannis and everyone were so helpful at every stage. I hope we will be able to come back here every year. Our guests loved it. It has been a very harsh year (again) and our group appreciated the space to be quiet and contemplative as well as the most glamourous dancefloor you could imagine.
Nothing - I cannot fault the venue or the staff.
