Affordable Party Venues for Hire in London

FAQs about Top Affordable Party Venues in London

Although London is known for its high price tag, you can still hire affordable venues. You can find plenty of cheap party venues, including per person packages that start at as low as £12. If you’re looking for a minimum spend hire for your next celebration, expect prices to start at £100. You can also find bars for groups and nightclubs charging hourly rates, with pricing starting at £20 per hour. Remember, the hiring rates for these venues can vary depending on the day of the week and the time of the day, with weekday morning prices being the lowest. (Based on Tagvenue data.)

While Soho or Shoreditch are best known for their nightlife, and we are sure you'll find a bar with private rooms that fits your budget there, why not try other areas of London for party on a budget? Try The Angel or Islington, which, while not being the main spots for pubs and bars, are still filled with great (and cheap) party spaces. Search along The Upper Street and you are sure to find just what you need to host a great celebration. After undergoing a gentrification process in recent years, Brixton has also become a new spot for partying, but still with lower prices than central London. If you don’t mind venturing out of the city centre, you will also be able to find amazing venues in North and West London.

The short answer is: yes, affordable doesn’t mean regular or boring! With the many amazing party spaces London offers, you will surely find the unique spot you’re looking for. Refurbished lofts and warehouses are uncommon spaces that can make a great backdrop for your party and won’t cost you a ton! A studio is a cheaper option; you can adjust and decorate it to match your ideas and make it unique. Hiring a waterside venue will grant you beautiful views of the Thames river and add the wow factor to your event.

Yes, there is a possibility to hire a venue for free! Look for bars and gastropubs that offer minimum spend options. This means that you and your guests will have to spend the minimum agreed amount on food and drinks. Just bear in mind that if you fail to do so, you will have to pay the missing difference.

Your Guide to Hiring Affordable Party Venues in London

Partying in London doesn’t have to mean emptying your wallet. This vast city has many affordable party venues that would be perfect for your event. Not sure where to start? We’ve got you covered! Not only have we listed the best and most affordable options for hire all in one place, we’re also happy to share our savvy cheap hire tips to save you money. Check them out below!

Cheap Party Venue Hire In London – Tips, Tricks And Ideas:

  • Book flexible spaces not traditional venues
Studios, co-working spaces, community halls, or even blank canvas galleries are often cheaper and more flexible. Many allow late hours, BYO options, and don’t force you into pricey packages.
  • Ask about off-peak time slots
Saturday nights cost the most. But Friday happy hours, Sunday afternoons, or even midweek evenings are much cheaper. Venues are more negotiable during quieter slots.
  • Use minimum spend to your advantage
Instead of paying a hire fee, look for minimum spend venues where your money goes toward food and drink. You get the space for “free” as long as the bar bill hits a certain amount.
  • Always ask what’s included (and what’s not)
Low prices can be deceiving. Ask directly: are glasses, ice, bar staff, clean-up, or music equipment included? Sometimes the venue looks cheap but charges for every extra.
  • Don’t underestimate small venues
If you’ve got a small to medium group, go private. Cosier spaces are not only more affordable, but also easier to fill with energy and you won’t spend more than needed on a venue that’s half empty.
  • Look for venues that allow BYO (booze or catering)
Drinks and food can be the most expensive part of any party. BYO venues cut that cost dramatically. Just check the corkage or kitchen usage fees upfront. Here are some of London’s top BYO-friendly venues.
  • Be upfront about your budget
Let them know your price range and what you’re looking for. They might offer unlisted discounts, recommend a smaller room, or throw in perks like free decor or extra time.
  • Think beyond Zone 1
Some of the best budget-friendly venues are just outside the centre in places like Hackney Wick, Peckham, or Haggerston. Still easy to reach by Tube or Overground, but without central London prices.

Recommendations For Cheap Event Venues In London

  • The Famous Cock Tavern - A quirky vintage pub with a cocktail bar and flexible packages. Perfect for groups around 100 and great for minimum spend deals. This party spot also offers different packages, so you will find the best pricing option for your event.
  • Dalston Cosy & Stylish Loft - as the name suggests, this stylish loft is a dream place for your small party. It is a beautifully decorated space for small groups. Low-cost hire and minimal need for extra decor.
  • St. Ethelburga's Centre - combining both historic arches and modern architecture this unique party venue will wow your guests. Equipment is included, and pricing is flexible for smaller groups.
  • House of Transformation - Event Space - this is a multipurpose creative venue that allows BYO catering and has a full kitchen. Well-connected and great for DIY events.

Budget-Friendly Catering & Drink Hacks For Your London Party

When it comes to budget-friendly catering in London, skipping traditional catering can save you a huge chunk of your budget. Potluck parties are a smart, low-cost option that also create a more personal, social atmosphere. Your guests bring a dish or drinks to share, and you cut catering costs while still having variety. DIY food stations, like taco bars or bagel spreads, are another great way to feed a crowd affordably while keeping things fun and interactive.

If you're hiring external catering, look into local street food vendors or culinary schools. Street food caterers often have lower rates and bold flavours, while partnerships with culinary students can give you restaurant-quality food at a fraction of the price. As for drinks, stick to a limited bar. A signature cocktail plus a couple of wine or beer options keeps things simple and affordable. Or, choose a BYOB venue (just check for corkage fees), which can slash your drink costs entirely.

Remember, the essence of a great party lies in the company and the joy of shared experiences, not the extravagance of the offerings!

Low-Cost Photography & Memory-Making Tips for Your Party on a Budget

Capturing the memories of your London party shouldn't have to cost a fortune. With some insider knowledge, you can document your event with stunning photos and videos without blowing your budget. These are practical tips and strategies to help you find affordable photography and videography solutions that will allow you to relive your party moments for years to come.

  • Hire a student photographer from a local uni. They’ll shoot professionally at a lower rate to build their portfolio.

  • Use a DIY photo booth with props and a backdrop. It's usually great fun, and guests snap their own pics.

  • Set up a shared album with a Google Drive or Dropbox link so everyone can upload their shots.

  • Rent equipment and ask a friend with a good eye to film highlights or capture candid moments.

Remember, the value of your event memories doesn’t lie in how much you spend, but in the authenticity and joy they capture. By employing these creative solutions, you can preserve the special moments of your London party without spending a lot.

Thank you so much for such an amazing night. Do not have a bad word to say. Amazing room, private bar had a range of really nice drinks and cocktails everything you could wish for. Service was outstanding, nothing was ever too much of an ask. Staff were all kind, fun, charismatic and attentive. Easy process from start to finish, everything sorted out for us. Super accommodating with music and our decorations. Isy was great too, excellent response and had everything organised for us perfectly. Thank you so much!

I hired the venue for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday and it was everything I could ask for from a venue! Bhush was amazing from the beginning, very helpful and responsive to all my queries. We were able to have our own food, bar, decorations; basically the venue was as flexible as could be. We went with the bar Bhush recommended and were very impressed with the service. One person served 40 people and the wait for cocktails was no more than a couple minutes. The bar hire was very affordable as well as the drinks, plus the bar itself looked incredible and went perfectly with our theme. A special thank you to Simon, our event manager for the night who was extremely helpful from the get-go. He had the projector set up before we arrived, and helped us pack and clear up at the end of the night (thank you for carrying pizzas!). All in all a wonderful night, thank you for helping us do everything exactly as we imagined!

Excellent location, good space and everything we needed for our small birthday party. Natural light and very good ventilation, host is very kind and prompt at communicating but at the same time not pestering at all like others, respects your space. I am very satisfied. Good price for the location, close to Tesco and Moorgate station.

The food was great and the restaurant was really beautiful! We really liked the paintings and historic pieces. Special thanks to Atul for taking the time to explain to us the stories behind each of those extraordinary artistic pieces! My guests were so happy and thanked me for picking Col Saab to host our work party.

The venue was bigger than the photos do justice. Behind the scenes, the host of this venue was so kind and answered all of my questions over the phone and left lots of cleaning supplies for us at the venue: including bin bags (even saying that we can leave rubbish behind as long as it’s bagged - but we took all rubbish with us because he was so nice). The value is really great - especially for London. The location was also easy to get to and there was a shop near by for drinks (or food for afters). A really great experience.

Shirley and the staff were fab. If you are looking for a quirky, fun, flexible venue to hold your event, then look no further. We had a brilliant comedy / cabaret event, helped by David (MCing) and Shirley to put together, followed by Djs until late. Would recommend if you have a budget, it is perfect for this. The team are doing something special here, like a little oasis in the middle of Stockwell.

We really enjoyed the Studio 54 party that we had here. Its a great space, the decoration of the place is really whacky and fun and it's a nice size so that 100 people don't feel packed in like sardines but it would still look busy if not many people came.

Very flexible and accommodating venue manager and lots of options to decorate our party. Venue manager was on call throughout the event and was kind enough to quickly come to the rescue to help us change a gas canister and fill the water tank. We had a lovely day.
