Railway Arches for Events Hire Guide

With industrial-chic venues right on trend, many railway arches are being hired out for various events. We’ve created a rundown of some of the most popular things they’re used for:

  • Photoshoots. Most railway arches available for hire in London don’t have natural light, they’re great for setting up a photography studio with artificial lamps. They make wonderful photoshoot locations, as an arch is a charming feature in itself.
  • Dining events. No matter if you’re searching in east, west or central London, you’ll find railway arches all over the city that can serve as a unique venue for your private dining event. Your guests will be impressed with the original features and atmospheric setting.
  • Pop-up events. Looking to host a culinary experience or to open a pop-up store just for one day? We’re here to help you find an arch to match.
  • Clubbing. Last but not least, railway arches in London are often used as party spaces. You can do wonders with light engineering and quirky interior decor. Oh, and they’re ideal for DJ performances and concerts as well!

Railway arch revival is real, and Tagvenue is here to help you find a perfect space for your event.

FAQs about Railway Arches for Events in London

How much does it cost to hire a railway arch for an event in London?

Railway arches in London cost around £2,500-£4,000+ per session. The price varies depending on the capacity of the arch and the type of venue. For example, an arch that can accommodate a crowd of up to 400 people, which is suitable for events like parties and concerts, will cost around £3,000-£7,000+ per session. However, a private room in a railway arch venue with a capacity of up to 60 people will cost around £1,000-£1,250+ per session. (All data from Tagvenue.)

Which districts in London are best for finding railway arches for events?

  • Shoreditch. This district is known for its creative atmosphere and thriving art scene, so it would be a perfect choice for a camp or indie party. You can find plenty of railway arches, from ample pop-up event spaces set in the Victorian railway arch to quirky restaurants under the East London overground line.
  • Dalston. If you're looking for something more urban or industrial, then this is another great location with plenty of large railway arch event venues, particularly modern bars and clubs at Hackney Central and Haggerston Stations.
  • Brixton. This district has become quite popular recently due to its hipster vibe and edgy lifestyle trends like skateboarding or graffiti pieces. Railway arches here are mainly located near either Brixton or Vauxhall Stations and are often used for photoshoots and fashion shows.

Can I bring my own sound system and decorations when hiring a railway arch for an event in London?

We completely understand that your event is personal and unique, and most venues do offer a blank canvas where you can create your ideal event. But be aware that restaurants and bars situated in railway arches might have policy restrictions on bringing your own sound systems, decorations, and equipment. However, often these venues come pre-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including professional lighting rigs, PA systems, and DJ areas. Always double-check your options with the venue manager ahead of time. If you really want to bring your own decorations and sound system, look for more flexible venues, so you can have more control over the layout, style, and décor.

Booked Tuke Hall at Regent’s Events
We had such a great event on Friday 19th August. The events team could not do enough for us, they provided everything we asked for and more. Even providing us with extra food which we do not pre-order in advance, this was due to lots of late arrivals due to the transport strikes. Thank you to the team for everything!

Booked The Bedouin Tent & Garden at St Ethelburga's Centre
We had a fantastic evening here for a hen do! The space is beautiful and we were able to have a fun evening all to ourselves. It’s in an amazing location, and the set up is gorgeous! Fanatic tent space, but also beautiful outside courtyard! We would highly recommend hiring the space, and we would definitely do so in the future. The caretaker was also very helpful when we needed assistance - thank you!
