About Crafts Council Gallery
Originally built as a 19th century congregational Methodist chapel, it has been re-imagined and re-designed by AOC Architects to inspire creativity.
The building boasts an impressive white façade with steps, arched windows, ionic columns and a gated, illuminated forecourt with occasional seating. Step inside and the visitor is welcomed by a natural, daylight filled lobby separated from the event space by a glass window and an arch framed set of doors.
The open plan event space features restored original parquet flooring. The room is filled with assimilated daylight by a calming central light box. The walls are clay plastered and suitable for hanging. There is adjustable, museum quality track lighting installed by art lighting specialists, TM lighting.
To the side of the event space is a small break out or storage space. At the front end is a library area furnished by furniture maker, Sebastian Cox with chestnut lined walls complemented by ash shelving.
With excellent transport links, The Crafts Councill Gallery provides a warm and flexible blank canvas space for hosting an event. Successfully hosted events have included receptions, product launches and brand activations, award ceremonies, photo and film shoots, talks and exhibitions.
Crafts Council Gallery is available to hire on a dry hire basis. It can accommodate up to 180 people for a standing event and 140 for seating. A list of recommended suppliers can be provided.
Crafts council is a registered charity, and all income generated from venue hire directly supports our work to inspire making, empower learning and nurture craft businesses.
