About this space

The Great Chamber is a Hall in The Charterhouse and a richly panelled ceremonial room whose defining quality is its period architectural detailing.

Design: The interior features a high ornamental coffered ceiling, deep-coloured wall coverings and large-scale architectural mouldings that give the space formal, elongated proportions.

Features: The Great Chamber provides Wi‑Fi, natural daylight, a PA system with speakers and permission for own music or an external DJ. The Great Chamber also offers step-free guest access, wheelchair-accessible circulation and accessible toilets.

Ideal for: Historic societies and private groups seeking a formal, seated banquet or a polished reception in a period setting.

What sets it apart: An extensive portrait gallery lines one wall, presenting a continuous sequence of large framed period paintings.

- We cannot hold civil ceremonies in our outside spaces.
- The Chapel and Chapel Cloister cannot be used for weddings – but you can have your blessing there.
- Confetti is allowed outside as long as it is biodegradable.
