Blue Dining Room at The National Gallery
About this space
The Blue Dining Room is a Banqueting Hall in The National Gallery and a private dining space defined by interlocking arched bays that form a sequence of semi-private dining alcoves.
Design: The interior pairs deep blue upholstered seating and velvet-backed booths with polished dark wood floors under high ceilings. The lighting is provided by globe pendant lamps and vertical wall lights, while pale plaster walls and restrained mouldings create a formal, museum-appropriate backdrop.
Features: The room includes a PA system and venue Wi‑Fi, and it is served by air conditioning for year-round comfort. The layout uses freestanding dining tables and movable seating to support formal table service or a rearranged plan, and accessible toilets and wheelchair access are provided. Onsite event services are available through the venue.
Ideal for: Smaller groups seeking a composed, seated dining experience or a focused, sit-down presentation in a formal, museum-style setting.
What guests say: The National Gallery's smaller rooms are well-lit and offer quieter, more secluded spaces away from the busier gallery highlights. The rooms provide comfortable seating and an orderly atmosphere suited to calmer, reflective gatherings.
