A great space for our engagement party and the sharing boards we ordered for our guests were delicious and got lots of compliments! Also loved that I could play my music through the speaker system and the staff were great about letting us put some decorations up and letting us stay past 6pm.
A couple of ruder staff amongst the nicer ones to be honest, but minor compared to everything else that was positive.
Have just celebrated my Dads 50th birthday here which I organised. Having searched high and low for a venue I came across the Alwyne castle. This venue stood out straight away for me, not only because of the beautiful rustic conservatory area, but also the events manager Lea, who was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Planning a party can be quite stressful but my millions of questions were answered always promptly and in detail, and I was never made to feel like I was badgering her. The whole booking and organising process was surprisingly pleasant and easy and all of my requests were met with no hassle. The day of the event was everything we wished for and more! The conservatory area and garden makes a fantastic venue which can be used for sit down gatherings as well as full on dancing and partying. I found the staff to be extremely attentive and someone was always asking if we were OK or if we needed anything. The drinks came out on time and were constantly replenished without us having to ask. The food was delicious and went down great with my guests, especially the burgers which disappeared within seconds! Most importantly my Dad had a 50th birthday he will never forget and we owe that partly to the Alwyne castle team so THANK YOU! And I would 1000% recommend this venue
Lovely room, decent food and pre-ordered catering/drinks was delivered without fuss.
To play my own music, the management had to take my phone to plug into an AUX cable, which was not ideal in case guests needed to contact me. My friend kindly lent his phone and started the playlist but somehow, the songs contained within the playlist weren't played. In addition, the duty manager gave me an almighty scare by saying that the minimum spend was £1000, instead of £400 (incorrectly interpreted that I had booked two time slots instead of one). Thankfully I had the emails to prove this wasn't the case but needless to say, it wasn't the nicest experience for my 30th bash.
