The event space is just too noisy - because there's no separation from the rest of the bar, there's too much noise and attendees struggle to hear the speakers. The audio is also perhaps too quiet for the size of the venue - people at the back struggled to hear the speakers and couldn't fully participate. Also there was confusion from regular punters who were coming downstairs to use the loo and didn't realise there was a private event going on.

Great space, helpful staff, excellent service to organise the event
It was a private party but there was no sign to suggest this or anyone to stop other customers coming into the private space.
