The Hearth: a warm, light-filled lounge in Stoke Newington
The Hearth is the cosy lounge on the first floor of Here + Now N16, just off Stoke Newington Church Street, one of north London’s best-loved streets for independent cafés, bookshops and restaurants. Clissold Park and Abney Park are a short walk away.
White-painted beams run across the ceiling, the walls are clean and white, and large windows with sheer curtains fill the room with soft natural light. It is calm, uncluttered and easy to make your own.
The Hearth is furnished like a living room rather than an event hall. A large, deep green corner sofa, a neurosonic chaise longue, a sling chair, a soft rug and plenty of plants make it feel welcoming from the moment guests walk in. Warm lighting keeps the mood relaxed in the evening.
It works beautifully as a reception or arrivals space, a breakout room for workshops and retreat days, a quiet room for circles, meditation and small gatherings, or a place to relax between sessions. The Hearth is the entrance lounge to Studio 2, so it’s available whenever Studio 2 isn’t booked, and it’s included when Studio 2 is hired. Add it to a Studio 4 booking as a breakout or arrival space, or hire it on its own.
Areas and equipment: Sonos speakers, WiFi, central heating, and a kitchen right next door with a kettle, fridge, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. A WC is on the same floor. The Mezzanine is reached by stairs from The Hearth.
Sound: Events can run until 11pm. We are just off Church Street. Although we are not attached to a residential dwelling, we are in a gated mews and need to be respectful of our neighbours, so we ask hirers to keep music at an agreed level and to help guests leave quietly.
Accessibility: The Hearth is up a flight of stairs from the ground floor, and there is no lift.

Host rules
• Set-up and pack-down time must be included within your booked hours (allow 15–60 minutes either side of your event).
• Music and noise levels must be kept at an agreed level out of respect for nearby high-street neighbors.
• All music and amplified sound must end by 10:30 PM, with the space fully vacated by 11:00 PM.
• Bookings involving open flames, candles, or incense must receive prior written sign-off from management.
• No smoking anywhere inside the building or courtyard mews.
• Please leave the studio tidy, with all trash placed in bins and equipment returned to its original setup.
• Any damage caused to the space, equipment, or floor will result in additional charges.
