Lecture Room at Westminster School Enterprise
About this space
The Lecture Room sits in a part of the School that was once known as Turle’s House. This building initially belonged to the Abbey, but it was sold to the School under the terms of the Public School’s Act of 1968.
The final tenant was James Turle, organist of Westminster Abbey, and the School acquired the property following his death. It was immediately torn down and rebuilt, with the old Tudor house considered unsuitable for school use owing to a strange layout that left one room lit only by a window to another, with no direct sunlight of its own.
