I really, really enjoyed hosting my 30th birthday at Black Tap Soho. The Boombox Bar is truly a hidden gem in the heart of Soho – the perfect size, vibe and ambience for my 50 or so guests.
From the very beginning, the staff were incredibly helpful. Nicola reached out early on and was so responsive throughout, making the whole process feel seamless and genuinely enjoyable – I really appreciated working with her. I was also introduced to Emanuele, Yanis and Ilias, who were all fantastic both in the lead-up and on the night itself. They made me feel completely at ease, were very welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was set up exactly how I wanted.
The space itself was ideal – intimate yet still spacious enough for everyone to feel comfortable. The lighting and artwork gave it a cool, underground feel and added so much character to the venue. It also felt really accessible, with guests finding it easily, which made a big difference.
I had such an amazing time, and so did my friends and family – they were all so complimentary about the venue and loved discovering the Boombox Bar. Everything came together perfectly, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special occasion.
We were having such a good time, I just wish the night could have gone on for longer and we could have had the venue for a few more hours! All beyond their control due to their licence, but that's one thing I wish was different.

Nicola was a big help in organising my boyfriend’s birthday party last minute. She answered any queries I had (even dumb ones!) speedily which I appreciate. In terms of the venue, we all found it lovely. The size and location were great for around 40 of us, and the drinks and food were super good too. My favourite part was the room/lighting, the backdrop made for such amazing photos!

Working with Nicola to organise our End of Year Social was a great experience. Efficient communication throughout to lock in all logistics. On the day the food was great and great value for money. The space was also perfect for our group of 30 and bar staff were great throughout the evening. Would definitely recommend the Boom Box Bar for other groups.

Yes. You can bring a DJ, but they will need to bring their own equipment.
Yes, a laptop can be used with the venue’s screens using a USB-C to HDMI cable or a suitable adapter, as MacBooks do not have an HDMI port.
No, the room does not allow for a DJ because it does not have the required connection. If you would like to have a DJ, you would need to hire the basement, as the connection is located in the Crazyshake Bar; alternatively, you are welcome to play your own playlist in the Boombox Bar, or the venue plays a great old-school hip hop and R&B soundtrack, which creates a fantastic party atmosphere even without a DJ.
Keeping the tables and chairs in place helps the room feel full and lively. Chairs around the central round table can optionally be removed to create more space, while the layout accommodates a balance of seated and standing guests.
Yes, guests are welcome to bring their own iPad or photo booth setup. The venue also has a photobooth.
