The communication whilst organising has been excellent. The venue and people at the venue were also great and there was clear communication throughout. They had set up tables and decorated with crackers, tinsel and other decor which really added to the great experience. The food was great and the set uo including tech was all as planned.

I found it so easy to book the venue for my party through Tagvenue, it was a stress-free process and literally the perfect venue to host in. It's easy to find, delicious food and drinks, amazing staff and an amazing space. I was able to fit in decorations and a photobooth.
From enquiring about hiring the venue to the end of my party, I was really impressed by the efforts and the communication from the staff at Cotton's Club Shoreditch. I especially want to thank Giorgiana, Prince, Alex and all the bar staff that helped set up the venue and served on the night. Literally could not have asked for a better team - we offered to help with the set up but they had it all sorted themselves.

Held my birthday party here and the night didn’t exactly end well, but I want to be super honest in my review. The venue itself is lovely - clean, nicely decorated, and a great spot if you have a large group. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful during the event itself. They operate using a minimum spend policy, which becomes a hiring fee if not met, this is something to keep in mind but I’d generally not an issue if you have a large enough group.
Unfortunately, about half of my guests did not show up, which meant we fell very short of the minimum spend at the end of the night. I accept that this was ultimately my responsibility. I had even budgeted for the possibility of no-shows, but of course I never expected that the shortfall budget would need to cover half of my confirmed guests.
About halfway through the event, a staff member came to check on me, as they could see I was stressed about the low turnout and the minimum spend. During that conversation, I was told that only my deposit would be kept if the minimum spend was not met. This directly contradicted the terms of my contract, but I had no reason to doubt it at the time. After hearing this, I relaxed. The staff member who told me this is not at fault, and they later said it had been approved by the bar manager but was ultimately retracted by the events manager. I was then presented with a large bill just before the end of the event.
To be clear, I do not blame the staff or the managers for the situation itself. I signed a contract and understand that I had to pay. My issue is with how it was handled. I was given information that deviated from my contract, and it was not corrected until the very end of the night. If I had known earlier, I could have prepared. Instead, I was blindsided while drunk and emotional, and one staff member even laughed while I was crying. The manager also discussed the terms of my contract with some of my guests, which I felt was inappropriate.
To make things worse, I was threatened with the police, which I think was completely unnecessary. I never refused to pay. I explained that I did not have the money at that moment and was panicking about how to afford such a big, unexpected bill. Naturally this explanation was heightened and maybe incoherent, because I was confronted while drunk.
I take full responsibility for not meeting the minimum spend, but I really think the situation could have been handled with more sensitivity, professionalism, and clear communication.
