The Lower Deck at the Battersea Barge is a welcoming, character-filled space that brings people together in true riverside style. With its high ceilings, generous windows, and sweeping views of the Thames, it offers an intimate yet open setting that feels both relaxed and special.

The Lower Deck comes complete with a stage, sound and lighting, and access to a fully licensed bar — everything you need for a celebration, performance, or gathering with a touch of personality. It’s perfect for weddings, parties, live events, and any occasion where atmosphere matters. The space seats up to 70 guests, or more for a standing event.

If you’d like to invite a bigger crowd, you can make use of the rest of the boat too — together, the Battersea Barge can host up to 150 guests.

Available to hire from 10am until midnight (11pm Sunday to Thursday), it’s a one-of-a-kind setting that’s ready to make your event unforgettable.

All hopes of having a great time were met with ease at the Battersea barge. From communication about viewing the venue (which they recommended) to testing the audio prior to the event, pre-ordering and food/drinks - everything sailed smoothly. As soon as interest was expressed, detailed information was shared with regards to options and next steps. The setting of the barge can’t be beaten and everyone who visited remarked on how unique and nice the place was. Thirsty guests found themselves a nice drink at the bar; hungry ones munched on some pizzas and garlic bread; breathless ones climbed to the terrace to steal some stunning views of the city line. The sound system at the venue was perfect and I played music from my phone. The staff were very friendly and patient. From greeting upon arrival to ensuring that everyone on board was having a good time. Kudos to the team who run this place. It’s definitely a spot to regular. Overall a 10/10 experience. Had a memorable evening.

Chips / fries would be a nice add to the food menu.

Very poor communication

Absolutely unacceptable service from this provider who seem to scam you for your deposit, We were not made aware of any incidents involving guests bringing alcohol or causing disruption. I spoke directly with both management and security at the end of the night, all of whom confirmed that the event ran smoothly with no issues reported. I even swapped numbers with your security that was there on the night for future events, if there was much of an issue would he have done this? Additionally, there were multiple shortcomings on your side that significantly impacted our event: Incorrect venue booking – The event was promoted in collaboration with you as taking place at Battersea Barge. We were then informed last minute that the venue had changed, forcing us to notify guests late, which negatively affected attendance and our setup. Access to space – We were explicitly told via phone call that we would have exclusive access to the mid and lower decks. Upon arrival, there were approximately 15–20 people on the upper deck. Lighting control – We specifically asked in advance whether we would have full control over the lighting, including colour changes and dimming, and were told this would be possible. On the night, we were informed this was not allowed. Sound system issues – Three separate audio engineers confirmed that the speakers and microphone inputs were substandard and caused ongoing technical difficulties. Furniture not cleared – We were assured all chairs and furniture would be removed prior to the event. This was not done, requiring us to move everything ourselves, wasting time and contributing to a delay in our performance.
