About this space

Apothecary & Peony bars, a Bar in Opium Chinatown, are two linked private cocktail rooms inside a speakeasy-style venue, notable for their intimate, dimly lit Chinoiserie interiors.

Design: The space has narrow proportions and low ceilings centred on a long lacquered service counter and stool seating. The palette uses deep reds and dark woods, paper lanterns and framed prints to create compact booths and close-knit seating pockets.

Features: The bars provide staffed service from a central counter with backbar shelving stocked with spirits and mixers. The space serves classic, seasonal and sharing cocktails alongside dim sum and bar snacks, and supports standing or seated service at the counter. The rooms include air conditioning and some natural light.

Ideal for: Small groups seeking a relaxed, social evening focused on conversation and cocktails, using a mix of standing reception and casual seated bar service.

What guests say: The bars are atmospheric and intimate, and they feature attentive service; the dim lighting and compact seating are repeatedly cited as creating a hidden, speakeasy feel.
