About this space

Underpractice is a non-profit arts & performance space in East London, with an open-plan white canvas multi-use studio suitable to a range of different practices. Alongside our studio we also have a cafe/bar which operates on a daily basis.

Underpractice is a fully accessible space on a ground level with an accessible toilet. Closest step-free station is Whitechapel.

You will have access to a PA system, Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

Our studio can be hired at any time for rehearsals and photoshoots, but also to any other kinds of uses.
You can also hire the whole venue for a private event or when you may require additional privacy or a more intimate environment without having the cafe/bar open to the general public.

All hires are subject to approval. While we are open to almost any kind of use of the studio, when reviewing requests for whole venue hires we prioritise those that uplift or engage with the communities we support.

Ideal for: Private Events, Pop-ups, Art Exhibitions, Performance Evenings, Theatre, Cabaret, Music Gigs...
Not ideal for: Audio Recordings (we are in a railway arch, so there are trains passing immediately above us which might momentarily disrupt your recording)

Host rules

- No smoking in the building
- Damage to the space will result in extra charge
- Space must be left in the same condition as found, clean and in the same layout (unless you are choosing to pay the cleaning fee). When that is not the case, we will charge twice the cleaning fee.
- Space must be empty by the time your booking is over. Any extra time will be charged accordingly, especially if it overlaps with another booking.
