4.2 Setup & Cleanup
Hirers are responsible for setting up the space and returning it to its original layout.
All rubbish must be collected and disposed of using appropriate bins.
Any damage or breakages must be reported immediately and may incur repair charges.

4.3 Equipment & Facilities
Basic tables, chairs, and facilities are provided as described in the hire agreement.
Hirers must not use estate equipment, tools, or materials without prior permission.

Electrical equipment brought by the hirer must be in safe working order.

5. Health, Safety & Insurance
5.1 Fire & Emergency Procedures
Hirers must familiarise themselves and their participants with fire exits and emergency procedures.


Fire exits must remain clear at all times.


5.2 Risk Assessments
Hirers are responsible for ensuring their activities are safe.


A risk assessment may be required for higher-risk workshops.


5.3 Insurance
Hirers must secure their own public liability or professional insurance relevant to their workshop.
Big Wood Estate does not accept responsibility for personal property loss or damage.

Beautiful and peaceful setting surrounded by nature, the workshop space is a great size and nicely decorated, with convenient facilities. All communication and organisation with the hosts was great. We got to spend a lot of the workshop out in nature which was lovely and nice to have the option to use indoor space and close by to have a field space with trees and woodland nearby. Would highly recommend this space.

I’ve been using this venue for a range of courses, workshops, and wellness-based sessions, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. The classroom itself is clean, fresh, colourful, welcoming, and has a really great energy to it. The lighting is excellent, the space feels open and comfortable, and the facilities — including the outdoor toilets — are very well kept and practical for group activities. What really makes this place special though is the setting. Being surrounded by nature, woodland, and open outdoor space creates the perfect environment for connection, learning, movement, and wellbeing. We’ve used the space for boxing, yoga, breathwork, sauna and cold-water sessions, and it works brilliantly for all of it. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to run wellness retreats, workshops, boot camps, community events, or any kind of gathering that brings like-minded people together in a calm and inspiring environment.
One thing that would make this place even more special would be the addition of some form of accommodation on site — somewhere comfortable people could stay for a night, long weekend, or even a full retreat week. Because the setting is so peaceful and immersive, it naturally lends itself to wellness retreats, recovery weekends, workshops, and community experiences. Having a small residence, lodge, bed and breakfast, or retreat-style accommodation would really complete the experience and allow people to fully disconnect, stay immersed in nature, and make the most of everything the space has to offer.
