About this space

The church itself dates back to 1631, with original stained glass, detailed mouldings, and high vaulted ceilings. It’s a big, open space that works well for concerts, talks, award events, or conferences.

There’s a modern A/V and lighting setup in place, including wireless mics and a large movable screen. Seating is flexible with a mix of benches and chairs, and there’s a modular stage you can use or adjust. The space is about 27 by 15.9 metres and comfortably fits around 150 people.

It’s easy to get to as well—right in Zone 1. You’re a short walk from Liverpool Street, Tower Hill, Fenchurch Street, and Aldgate, and the 25 bus stops just outside.

You can hire the church on its own, or take the Hall and courtyard too if you want the whole site to yourself.

St Katharine Cree runs a support centre for workers in the City, especially those in less visible industries like cleaning. They offer things like free language classes, legal advice, and community support during the week. The venue doesn’t get external funding from the government or the Church of England, so booking their space helps keep that important work going.

This is also an active church so they don’t host events with spiritual content or anything that goes against their values around respect and inclusion. If you’re unsure, they’re open to having a quick chat about it.
