I had booked a private event at Studio 48 Bar and paid £520 in advance (£400 drinks package + £120 venue hire).
Unfortunately, the venue double booked my event and cancelled on me, which was extremely disappointing in itself. But what was more alarming was that they didn’t reach out to me themselves to flag, it wasn’t until I reached out the week of the event that they told me this (baring in mind I had booked in Jan for a March event). Leading to me having to make other last minute arrangements elsewhere.
While they did acknowledge the mistake and agreed to issue a full refund, it has now been almost two weeks and the money still hasn’t been returned.
I have had to chase multiple times without a clear timeline for repayment.
Mistakes can happen, but how a business handles them is what matters. At the moment, this has been handled poorly and has caused unnecessary stress.
At this point, I cannot recommend booking here, as there seems to be a lack of reliability and accountability when issues arise.

Good communication in the lead up to the event. Really friendly staff on the day! We could play our own music and it felt very separate from the rest of the bar. Well located, quirky space with loads of character. It could be really beautiful with proper care and maintenance so it's a shame it’s fallen into disrepair.
Overall, it worked perfectly for what we needed, but definitely adjust your expectations from the old photos that are on here. If all you need is something rough and ready with character then it can work well, providing you bring your own decorations, rearrange the room yourself and are prepared to do a spot of cleaning!
The room was a mess when we arrived - banners up from previous parties, left over photos, paper and other bits and pieces from Baby Showers and Birthdays. The furniture was all over and the tables were dirty. Luckily there was a cleaning spray and cloth up there so I tidied and cleaned the tables myself.
The space is definitely not as pictured on here - think they've kept photographs taken by the previous owners to advertise. It's quite dirty and run down - cracked tiles, dying plants and an empty trough of soil around the seating bank (presumably where there used to be more foliage) containing nothing but rubbish (chewing gum wrappers/napkins etc). The cushions were dirty and there were mismatched blankets thrown over the seating banks to cover up stains.
We only had two menus between 15 people and those were dirty/drink covered crumpled sheets attached to clip boards.
The pricing was WILD. I ordered a small jug of plain orange juice and they tried to charge me £17.50 for it! I asked if they were sure that was the cost of a small jug of soft drink and the barman went downstairs to check with his manager then said he could do it for a tenner....!!
Bottles of low quality prosecco were priced at £37.50 (occasionally they charged us £39 instead, depending on who was behind the bar...). At one point they ran out, so one of them went to Morrisons to stock up on more low quality fizz which they continued charging us nearly £40 for.
A friend ordered two Espresso Martinis that were entirely undrinkable. They just tasted like bitter coffee with some foam on top. The bartender apparently apologised when he served them, then only charged her for one, but they both went to waste as they were disgusting.
The food was HORRENDOUS / inedible. We left the meal that we ordered then advised other guests to just play it safe with fries.
The venue only had 11 prosecco glasses in total, which seemed odd for a bar.

We had a great hen do celebration on the terrace at Studio 48, the team were helpful and friendly and the space being private is lovely.
There are quite a few stairs to get up there, to be expected with a terrace.
