About this space

Riverside Kawa is a compact contemporary Japanese restaurant characterised by an intimate, relaxed dining layout and close-table service.

Design: The interior uses a restrained palette of dark-painted timber, brass accents and warm wood tabletops. The seating combines quilted mustard stools and upholstered grey chairs, while floor-to-ceiling curtains and low pendant lighting soften the room.

Features: An internal service bar handles drink service and glass storage. In-house drink options include beer, wine and spirits. The venue provides Wi‑Fi and plentiful natural light. Hosts can play their own music or bring an external DJ. The space is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilets.

Ideal for: Small groups seeking an informal, seated dining experience or a relaxed standing drinks reception.

What sets it apart: A suspended origami-crane installation above the main service area provides a distinctive visual focal point.

What guests say: The venue's staff are friendly and attentive. The venue is dog-friendly and the dining area offers a pleasant view.

Very poor communication
I wouldn’t book your event here. We stupidly paid our deposit for the minute spend directly to the owners. They asked us to do this as they didn’t want to pay tag venue a percentage. We had visited the venue met the owners and thought fair enough. We had our event in January and we exceed the minimum spend which is actually £3800 not the £1500 they advertise. They haven’t given us back our deposit of over £1000! Which is a lot of money as you can imagine. I WOULD STAY CLEAR. The owners are dishonest and were ignoring calls. When we called on an unrecognisable they happened to pick up! And within that call the owner and her husband were literally laughing. It’s shame a shame that our lovely day has been tainted. Tag venue should consider removing them from this platform.
