About this space

A 700 sq ft photography and film studio inside Hackney Downs Studios, E8, suited to shoots, rehearsals, workshops and private screenings.

Three skylights offer soft natural light, with full blackout for controlled lighting. High exposed ceilings, white-painted brick walls and concrete floors work as a clean studio or an industrial location.

Switch looks with white, dark, hand-painted and green screen backdrops, all included. Bring your own kit or hire ours on site.

For screenings, the room seats up to 25 guests, with a freestanding screen and laser projector. You can also project directly onto the brick wall for live audiovisual performances.

Host rules

• You'll have exclusive use of the studio.
• There's a maximum of 10 people at any time, including crew, talent, clients and guests.
• No smoking, vaping, naked flames, haze or smoke machines.
• No fixings, paint or tape on walls or floors without our written consent.
• Follow the Hackney Downs Studios building rules, noise limits and fire procedures, and keep fire exits clear.
• Anyone under 18 must be supervised.
• Set-up and get-out are included in your booked hours.
• The minimum booking is 2 hours, and overrunning without agreement is charged at £120 per hour.
• Check the studio and kit when you arrive and report any existing damage before you start. Equipment must not leave the studio.
• Leave the space clean and as you found it, or a £60 cleaning fee applies.
• Public liability insurance of at least £2m is recommended.
• Cancellation more than 7 days before your date gets a full refund, Cancelling less than 7 days before costs 50%, and under 24 hour costs 100%.
• You can move your booking once for free with 7 days' notice.
• A full hire agreement is signed on booking.
