Christmas Party · 14 guests · December 2022
- the staff serving the meal were exceptional - extremely pleasant, very courteous and very attentive. We all agreed they were fantastic. We would have put 5 stars for this - we dropped a star for the wider management issues noted in the Negatives section. - the venue was beautifully decorated and presented
- After booking the venue we were told we couldn't choose our meal from the set menu choices we were sent (even in advance), unless there were specific dietary requirements. I have never heard of anywhere that tried to force a group of people to eat the exact same meal - a set menu generally means you can choose options from a small selection. We pushed back on it as we would not have booked the venue had we known this at the time. We were then allowed a choice, but this was an extremely odd approach, and very off-putting. - The food was fine, but the portions were very small. - We were there for a Christmas party as a small group, and we were in a function room we had hired for the evening. We were then told off by the management for being too noisy for guests sleeping in the hotel. We did not know where the bedrooms were in relation to where we were in relation to the room we were in, and were not asked to keep noise down. It is the responsibility of the hotel to manage such logistics, not their paying customers, and again this left a negative impression. All in all, a nice evening because of the party we were with, and the serving staff were exceptional. But the wider management could certainly do with some work if you want to make customers feel valued.

About Kimpton Charlotte Square Edinburgh

Kimpton Charlotte Square Edinburgh is a Trusted Tagvenue Partner, validated by the Tagvenue team with a record of successful bookings on the platform.

Perched on the edge of a picturesque private garden in the New Town, Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel blends traditional glamour with the Scotland of today. Outside, a classical Georgian exterior stands as an ode to the past while inside, past the lobby, a glass-topped central courtyard is abuzz with activity as travellers unwind over gin & tonics, local professionals do business, and friends toast special occasions. The energy is so fresh and effervescent that you’ll want to bottle it and bring it home—but then again, it feels too distinctly Edinburgh to make sense anywhere else.
