Venue facilities, location, space and flexibility to decorate how we wished.
Major miscommunication on what equipment would need to be provided by the venue. Our DJ was unable to increase the volume beyond background music until we agreed to ‘rent’ a mixer which cost an extra £200. We had been informed previously that an XLR cable would be provided and that’s all he would need. Very nearly a disaster which we eventually resolved after 30 minutes mid-party.

The food was exceptionally good; guests were raving about the quality of the food and the cocktails were delicious. Everyone was served food and the circulation was good. Overall the party was a success and it went on without any issues. But that was because I had to constantly monitor what was going on and remind people rather than enjoy myself.
It was a little unorganised when I got there and I wasn't allowed to arrive early to help set up / get music sorted / meet photographers etc. The balloons were also delivered to the wrong floor which left me scrambling to find them. Guests were not greeted with champagne when I asked the waitresses to make sure they were. I had to constantly remind the staff what to do and when to serve cocktails. I thought the music could have been better.
