FAQs about Top Unusual Birthday Party Venues in London

Have a fab party in one of the venues available here on Tagvenue of course! But if you want to add something fun and quirky to do before or after then we also have a few other ideas as well. London is a great place to have a birthday party–it's a city full of culture, history, and fun opportunities for adventure! Here are some unusual birthday party activities that you can do in London:

  1. Go on a Segway tour through Hyde Park and learn about the history of the park
  2. Take a stroll through Kensington Gardens and see where Princess Diana lived while she was married to Prince Charles
  3. Cruise the River Thames on a boat cruise or go on an excursion to Greenwich
  4. Have a picnic at Kew Gardens and enjoy one of the world's best botanical gardens

Decorate with flowers: Flowers are always a great way to liven up a space! You can buy them at any market or flower shop in London, and they'll add the perfect amount of colour and beauty to your venue.

Decorate with candles: Candles are also great for lighting up dark spaces, especially when you're hosting an intimate gathering at night. You can get candles from any store that sells home goods—they're really affordable!

Decorate with food: Food is another great way to bring life into an otherwise uninteresting space. If you have access to kitchens, and ovens on-site, or if you’re planning to prepare something at home, then consider making some cookies or cupcakes as part of your decoration scheme.

A restaurant or a bar seems so mundane, but have you had the chance to check out the venues we have available? You can book a cinema room, a den and even a private cabinet. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg! There are also fabulous outdoor areas and unique event spaces which are waiting just for you. Check them out today!

Hiring a unique birthday party space in London on a weekday is not only possible but also a fantastic idea! Weekdays often offer more availability and sometimes even discounted rates compared to weekends. Consider venues like art galleries, rooftop bars, or cosy cafes for a celebration that stands out. Plus, with fewer competing events during the week, you're more likely to have the venue all to yourselves, adding an extra special touch to your birthday festivities. So go ahead, think outside the box and plan your weekday birthday bash in London in style!

Your Guide to Hiring Unusual Birthday Party Venues in London

Planning an out-of-the-box birthday bash? London’s full of quirky, unexpected venues, from private cinemas to floating party ships. But before you pick the spot, here’s what to seriously think about:

  • Stay realistic about the price
Unusual venues can sometimes come with unexpected costs. Set a clear budget and add a 20% cushion for any extras you didn’t plan for.
  • Pick a location everyone can actually reach
If it’s too far or tricky to get to, you’ll risk a lot of no-shows. Aim for somewhere central or well connected by public transport to get as many of your guests there as possible.
  • Finalise your guest list before venue hunting
Nail down your numbers early. It’ll help you choose a space that fits your group comfortably. Too big feels empty, too small gets cramped.
  • Check what’s included before you book
For unique spaces, always double-check services, food options, and amenities. Better yet, visit the venue if you can, and don't forget to ask about parking.

Booked The Cavendish at Market Halls Oxford Street

We had a 40th birthday party in the Cavendish room which was excellent. We had ample room for guests to mingle, we decorated the room ourselves and had tables laid out for pizza which we pre ordered from one of the vendors. There is a large speaker and microphone so we were able to connect our own phone with a playlist. We had a dedicated bar man, but we also had pre ordered Prosecco and wine which worked well for when guests arrived. There was another event going on at the venue that evening but there was no disruption. All in all would recommend this venue for its central location and good value for money.

The communication from beginning to the end of my birthday party was perfect. I had answers to my questions very quickly. The location was perfect and the bar decoration is amazing. My guests and me had a lot of fun during the party and the food and drinks were really good. I will definitely go back again!

We celebrated our birthday at the Cobalance on a very hot day. The events manager was super helpful and provided extra fans to make sure the venue was cool enough for our guests. The events manager was excellent and communicated with us throughout the evening on music, table arrangements, lighting, and more. In the lead up to our event, Bhush communicated very well and provided all the information we needed beforehand. He even arranged a virtual tour with us. I would definitely reccomend the venue to anyone looking for a cool location and friendly staff.

Booked Function Room at Simmons | Temple
5.0
Had a joint birthday party in the function room and it was an absolute blast. We were able to bring our own food to the venue as it doesn’t provide catering which was absolutely fine and gave us more flexibility food wise. We made our own playlist and staff were happy to turn up throughout the night! The karaoke was also great fun and the bar staff were patient with our drunken requests to switch between karaoke and the playlist. Really happy with our experience, had an absolute blast!

Held my 30th birthday here for over 100 people in the Cocktail Lounge and the Club Room. The venue and staff were fantastic. They helped keep the night running smoothly, were super easy about playing my own music and also using my own DJ (approved by EventUK). Food all came out at the right time and was of really good quality. Was allowed to use the screens around the room to display photos, and they communicated well with the external photo booth company I'd hired in and allocated space for them on the night. Door staff also super friendly. They also kept hold of all my cards and gifts until I was ready to pick them up the next working day. Honestly a fantastic service and perfect for a 30th birthday!

Booked The Downstairs Cocktail Bar at LOCKES Bar Covent Garden

We reserved the basement bar of Lockes for my 30th birthday and it was a perfect night. In the weeks running up to it Marco was excellent at helping organise logistics, offer timing advice for pre-ordered food and drinks. Everyone at the party was singing praises about the cocktails and how attentive the barman was to our needs. The pizzas (and specifically the gluten-free options) were incredible and we'll be going back to the upstairs part of the bar to definitely try some more of the menu! Thank you for a lovely night - I'll remember it for a long time!

Booked The Hideaway at Be At One Liverpool Street
5.0
Very smooth with booking, I requested a few things like a DJ (which they sent to me) some balloons and we had a 360 booth which they all allowed us to bring in. Thankyou so much to our bartenders and security guards on that night! I’m so sorry I forgot their names but we was in the hideaway on the 28th for my birthday and all of the staff on that night was so friendly and fantastic. The security guards did a great job of kicking people out that wasn’t meant to be in there so I’m very glad for that. Overall a great venue to host 100 people!

Theo, Jake and all the staff I dealt before and on the night were absolutely brilliant. Helpful, accommodating, friendly and wanting to do their best to make my night special. Jake and the bar staff on the night were enjoying themselves with us and just made the place feel like I was having a party in my own home. The venue itself was perfect for what I wanted. Great space inside and out and use of a big screen and DJ equipment. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Highly recommended. My friends and I just had the BEST night! Thank you guys for making my 40th birthday so special.
