About this space

The Weed is a Theatre in iO Theater, a compact black-box room defined by a single, uninterrupted sightline to a small framed stage.

Design: The room presents an industrial black-box interior with low exposed ceilings, dark painted walls and a wood-effect floor. Coloured stage lighting and a curtained proscenium doorway focus attention on the performance area while café-style tables and stackable chairs occupy the audience zone.

Features: A small raised stage includes theatrical lighting and a PA system for live performance. Wi‑Fi and air conditioning are available, and the room provides wheelchair access, accessible toilets and a step-free guest entrance. Moveable tables and chairs enable rapid reconfiguration between seated presentations and mixed seated-standing layouts.

Ideal for: Small performance ensembles and creative organisers seeking an informal, close-up performance setting or a mixed seated-standing social format.

What sets it apart: A flexible music policy allows hosts to play their own music or hire an external DJ for private events.

What guests say: The room has a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere that supports casual viewing and audience interaction.
