To Hawksmoor purists – and many of our longest-serving team – our Shoreditch restaurant is top of the chops. As our very first opening, it’s often said that this is where the true ‘Hawksmoor spirit’ is most deeply rooted.
What was once a quiet corner of Commercial Street is now at the heart of East London’s vibrant food scene. We’re proud to be part of a buzzing neighbourhood, surrounded by a brilliant community of restaurants and just a stone’s throw from the iconic Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane.
This is a place for exceptional steaks, expertly crafted drinks, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere – all delivered by a team who genuinely care about your experience. Whether it’s lunch or dinner, Hawksmoor Spitalfields remains one of East London’s top spots for steak and seafood.
Getting here is simple – we’re just a 2-minute walk from Shoreditch High Street station and within a 10-minute walk of Liverpool Street, Old Street, and Aldgate stations.
Split across two floors, our original Hawksmoor location is ideal for all kinds of occasions. The light-filled ground floor dining room seats up to 120 guests in a warm, classic setting. Downstairs, Spitalfields Bar offers the perfect pre- or post-dinner destination, with space for up to 80 guests standing and plenty of atmosphere for drinks, mingling, or private hire.

About Hawksmoor Spitalfields
Hawksmoor was inspired by childhood memories of how good steak could taste. Founders Will Beckett and Huw Gott (friends since they were 11) opened the first Hawksmoor restaurant on Commercial Street in 2006; more restaurants in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and
New York followed.
Our menus revolve around using the best ingredients we can find and cooking them as simply as possible – whether it be beef from grass-fed native breed cattle, sustainable seafood from around the local coast, seasonal fruits and vegetables or great British cheeses, combined with great wines and interesting cocktails all served by people who love what they do.
A mere 2 minutes’ walk from Shoreditch High Street and 10 minutes’ walk from Liverpool Street, Old Street and Aldgate stations, Hawksmoor Spitalfields has 2 private spaces.
The Vesta Tilley Room is ideal for private hire for groups of up to 55. The space is perfect for team lunches, private dinners and other celebrations.
Spitalfields Bar - twice crowned the world’s best restaurant cocktail bar, Spitalfields Bar is a space with stories to tell. Hawksmoor’s original late-night venue embodies the attitude and character that makes Hawksmoor so unique. Situated below our Hawksmoor Spitalfields restaurant, Spitalfields Bar takes the very best of Hawksmoor – the cocktails, the food, the hospitality, and the décor – to create an memorable events and gatherings up to 70 guests.
