There are many ways to make your baby shower party memorable. For example, you can decorate the event space in a fun way or come up with engaging games for all the guests. You could also choose a venue with a unique theme—why not try a roaring '20s or hippie '70s vibe? There are plenty of great quirky baby shower venues for hire or, if you'd prefer to have full control over the decor, top-rated blank canvas event spaces.

The venue that you pick for your baby shower highly depends on your personal preferences and what kind of atmosphere you’re going for. You can choose to have a classy party in a restaurant, or a relaxed one in a café. One of the most popular options is organising a tea party for your baby shower, since London has an abundance of afternoon tea venues!

Having a baby shower on a budget can be a challenge in London, but we have some tips and tricks up our sleeve. If your guest list is already as short as possible, but you’re still not fitting into your ideal price range, consider asking someone to co-host. There are venues that allow you to bring in your own drinks or dessert, which can lower the final cost. If you bring your own decorations and pre-prepared games, you can choose a blank canvas baby shower venue and decorate it yourself.

Your Guide to Hiring Baby Shower Venues in London

Which type of venue suits a baby shower?

Five venue types account for most baby shower bookings in London. Each has a different price shape and a different natural group size.

Venue type

Typical price

Typical guests

Choose it for

Dining room

£700 minimum spend

25 – 40

Seated lunch or afternoon tea, speeches, a quiet room

Pub function room

£400 minimum spend

40 – 80

Relaxed mixed-age parties, own decorations, no hire fee

Event space

£750 minimum spend

50 – 130

Large guest lists, games, a full decoration setup

Restaurant

£1,000 minimum spend

30 – 50

Catering handled in-house, a set menu, no self-catering

Function room

£300 minimum spend

40 – 60

Budget-led bookings with a separate, private space

Private dining rooms

Best for 15 to 40 seated guests where food is the centre of the day. You get a door that closes, a set menu agreed in advance and staff who serve rather than a queue at a bar. Ask whether the room is fully private or screened from the main floor, and whether there is a minimum spend on a Saturday.

Top pick: Fruit & Veg Private Room at Arthur Hooper’s, Borough Market – from £250 minimum spend per session, up to 20 guests, rated 4.8/5.

Pub function rooms

Best for 40 to 80 guests and mixed-age family groups. Most work on a minimum spend rather than a hire fee, which suits a long afternoon with food and drink. Kitchens are already in place, most allow your own decorations, and there is usually step-free access to at least the ground floor. Check whether the room is above or below the main bar, and whether there is a separate toilet.

Top pick: The Chesterfield Room at The Market Tavern, Mayfair – from £300 minimum spend per session, up to 45 guests, rated 4.9/5.

Blank-canvas studios

Best for 10 to 40 guests where the look matters more than the catering. You hire the room by the hour, bring your own food, cake and decorations, and keep full control of the styling. These are also the spaces that photograph best, which matters if you are combining the shower with a maternity shoot. Confirm what is included – tables, chairs, a kitchenette, a fridge – and how much setup time sits inside the hire.

Top picks: Plant filled Victorian Stable at Clapton Tram, Clapton – from £200 hire fee per hour, up to 20 guests, rated 4.9/5. For a lower hourly rate, Entire Studio at Hackney Studio Space is from £38 hire fee per hour for up to 40 guests, rated 4.8/5.

Hotels and afternoon tea rooms

Best for 12 to 30 seated guests wanting a fixed package rather than a build-your-own event. Afternoon tea venues in London average £1,000 minimum spend per event and tea party venues £750, so hotel private rooms with a morning or afternoon hire fee often work out lower for a small group. Ask whether non-alcoholic sparkling is included for the mum-to-be and whether a children’s menu is available.

Top picks: Baby Shower at The Mandeville Hotel, Marylebone – from £250 hire fee per morning, up to 30 guests, rated 4.8/5. For a design-led alternative, Terrace Room at Sanderson London, Fitzrovia, is from £750 hire fee per day for up to 25 guests.

Cafés and daytime spaces

Best for 20 to 60 guests on a per-head budget in the morning or early afternoon. Cafés price per person more often than other venue types, which makes the total easy to predict from the guest list. They suit showers that finish by mid-afternoon, and many have outdoor seating for warmer months.

Top pick: Venue at AAVO cafe, Walthamstow – from £15 per person per session, up to 60 guests, rated 4.8/5.

Gardens, conservatories and covered outdoor spaces

Best for spring and summer showers of 30 to 100 guests. The point of a conservatory or covered garden is that it keeps the daylight and the greenery without depending on the forecast, which matters for a London booking made months ahead. Confirm the wet-weather plan in writing: whether the indoor space holds the full guest list, and whether heaters or covers cost extra.

Top picks: The Bedouin Tent & Garden at St Ethelburga’s Centre, City of London – from £65 hire fee per hour, up to 30 guests, rated 4.8/5. For a larger group, The Secret Garden at Exhibit, Balham, is from £500 minimum spend per day for up to 100 guests.

Rooftops and terraces

Best for 25 to 50 guests between May and September, where the view and the light are the decoration. Four things decide whether a rooftop works for a shower rather than an evening party:

  • View and orientation. A west-facing terrace gives golden-hour light from around 6pm in midsummer; a north-facing one stays even and shaded, which is more comfortable for a pregnant guest and better for photographs at any hour.
  • Privacy level. Exclusive hire means the terrace is yours; semi-exclusive means a roped section beside other guests. For speeches and games, ask for exclusive or a screened area.
  • Access and comfort. Check lift access to roof level, whether there is seating in shade, and whether the toilets are on the same floor – all of which matter more at a shower than at a standing party.
  • Best time to book. Late morning to mid-afternoon is the practical slot: cooler, quieter and cheaper than an evening session, and it suits guests bringing children.

Top picks: The Orchids Room & Terrace at Sticky Mango Waterloo – from £500 minimum spend per afternoon, up to 35 guests, rated 4.9/5, with an indoor room attached if the weather turns. For a larger terrace, Terrace at Canteen Food Hall & Bar, Greenwich Peninsula, is from £500 hire fee per morning for up to 200 guests. Private Dining Room at STK Rooftop – Stratford is from £1,000 minimum spend per session for up to 40 guests.

What about North and West London?

Tagvenue does not have a dedicated North or West London baby shower page, but there are venues in both. In North London, Baby Shower Event Package at The Hearth in Queen’s Park is from £396 per event for up to 50 guests and is the highest-rated baby shower space on the London page at 4.8/5. Conservatory at The Alwyne Castle in Islington is from £100 minimum spend per session for up to 80 guests, and Martha’s Bar at The Washington in Belsize Park is from £300 hire fee per session for up to 60. In West London, Unique Baby Shower at Beaufort House Private Rooms in Chelsea is from £1,050 minimum spend per session for up to 50 guests.

Which venue suits your group?

The right space depends less on style than on who is coming and how long they will stay.

Work colleagues

15 – 40  people

£15 – £30 per head

Co-ed shower or gender reveal

30 – 120  people

£400 – £1,000 total

A bar or pub with an outdoor area, so the reveal can happen outside and drinks run afterwards.

Gender reveal venues

A gender reveal needs one thing a standard shower does not: somewhere the reveal can physically happen. Confetti cannons, smoke and balloon drops are restricted indoors at many London venues, so an outdoor area or a high-ceilinged blank-canvas room is the practical choice. Check the venue’s policy on smoke, confetti and helium before booking – several historic and hotel venues prohibit all three. The Clubhouse at the Victoria in Tottenham, from £400 minimum spend per afternoon for up to 120 guests and rated 4.7/5, has hosted combined baby showers and gender reveal bookings.

Where can you hire a cheap baby shower venue in London?

The lowest total cost in London comes from hourly community and studio spaces rather than from discounted restaurants. Booking three hours at £25 to £45 per hour puts the room cost between £75 and £135 before catering.

Four ways to bring the total down further: book a weekday or a Sunday morning rather than a Saturday afternoon; choose a minimum spend you would hit on catering anyway; pick a venue that allows your own cake and decorations; and shorten the booking to three hours rather than a half-day.

Picture Perfect Venue & Stellar Service for a Baby Shower/ Gender Reveal mashup. Not only was it spacious enough for our 55 guests to mingle comfortably, but the entire place was absolutely gorgeous. We got tons of amazing photos and videos for Instagram and TikTok – our guests couldn't stop raving about the aesthetics. The owner truly went above and beyond to make our event a success. They generously allowed us early access for setup with our caterers and event stylist. Their willingness to help with both setup and cleanup was a huge lifesaver and took a massive weight off our shoulders. Overall, this venue provided the perfect blend of style, functionality, and exceptional service. We highly recommend it!

Booked The Bedouin Tent & Garden at St Ethelburga's Centre
4.8
Such a beautiful venue for my baby shower! So so pleased that I booked it in advance as there wasn’t many dates available. The bonus is the heating inside the tent as it got very cold and all my guests felt super cosy and didn’t want to leave. Very glad they allow external catering because this meant I could order food that was halal and set up to my wishes. Had a lot of people messaging me to ask about the venue after seeing my event pictures on social media. Nelson was extremely helpful and helped us with all the baby gifts and carried them to the main road. Thank you!

Booked Unique Baby Shower at Beaufort House Private Rooms
5.0
I recently attended a baby shower at Albert's at Beaufort House, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience. The room and decoration were beautifully done, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that perfectly suited the occasion. The attention to detail in the decor added a touch of elegance to the event. The staff at Albert's were truly amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure everyone's needs were met. From the moment we arrived until the end of the event, their exceptional service made the day even more special. As for the afternoon teas, they were nothing short of fantastic. The delicate sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and an array of sweet treats were a delight for the taste buds. It was evident that the food had been prepared with care and high-quality ingredients. Overall, the baby shower at Albert's at Beaufort House was a memorable and delightful experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful venue with exceptional service and delectable afternoon teas.

Booked Entire venue at The Oaks, Eltham
5.0
I had my baby shower and the Olive terrace. Firstly the interaction and information when booking was wonderful and it was wonderful to look at the venue before hand. On the day of the baby shower everything was set up wonderfully and the cleanliness was perfection. I want to say a massive thank you for the two members of staff that worked that day, they went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect for me and then to ensure that all my guests were happy. They really were a credit to the venue and I’m gutted I cannot remember their names to ensure they got the praise they deserve. Overall I would definitely recommend the olive terrace and the oaks overall to anyone and I’m sure I will be back for another celebration. Thank you!

Booked Green Room Suite at Holiday Inn London Whitechapel

I want to express a special thank you to the team who helped us organize a baby shower on the day of the celebration. The team was excellent and the service was outstanding. Very attentive staff and so professional. The catering was amazing, very good value for money and the guests really like the food. We had sandwiches, wraps, fries, Cesar salad, grit salad, rolls. It was exactly what we needed for a fairly small get together for a group of 12 people. We had access to sound system to play our music too. The staff laid out everything like tables and chairs too. Very good service, and I highly recommend this hotel for organising parties.

Booked Living Room Place whole venue at The Living Room Place Furzedown Venue
5.0
The Managers of the venue are lovely and are great with communication. The venue is modern and has a fresh aesthetic look. I booked this venue for a baby shower for up to 25 guests and there was enough space. We used the downstairs area to host food and drinks as there is a kitchenette area. It had kettles, a microwave, small hob and oven. Upstairs we used for the games, there was enough space for all guests to be seated. We were able to bring our own decorations and a bonus there is a hanging track that can be use to hang decorations (no sticking of items on the wall). This worked great for our back drops. We could bring our own catering and drinks, which is a win!!! There is a WC with disabled access and you are provided with the necessary amenities. Great location for the venue especially as it has free parking on the road and side roads. It is a great space and very personable as you hire out the whole of the venue.
