Crown Visual Studio is a 66 m² industrial-style studio and private cinema on Level 3 at 87 Gladstone Street, South Melbourne. One flexible room works three ways: a private cinema with a 200-inch screen, a fully equipped photo and video studio, and a workshop or presentation space for up to 30 people. It's also home to the South Melbourne Short Film Festival.
Location
Two minutes' walk from Coventry Street's cafés and South Melbourne Market. Trams 12 and 96 stop within three minutes, and the CBD is 10 minutes away by tram.
Setting
Polished concrete floors, white walls, tall exposed ceilings and natural light from a window at the studio end.
Areas and layout
Main room: up to 30 guests, theatre-style or classroom-style.
Cinema: 200-inch screen, BenQ laser projector and 7.1 Dolby surround. Stream from Netflix, Disney+ or Prime, or connect by HDMI, USB or AirPlay.
Photo studio: Godox strobes, softboxes, paper backdrops, mirror, wardrobe rack and makeup station.
Breakout: a separate office and kitchenette zone.
Included: Wi-Fi, tea and coffee, fridge, glassware, lounge area, air conditioning and heating.
Parking
One on-site car park is included. Metered street parking nearby is generally free in the evenings and on Sundays, and Care Park at South Melbourne Central is a five-minute walk.
Sound
The studio shares the building with working offices, so volume must stay low on weekdays between 9am and 5pm. Film screenings and louder sessions are best booked for evenings and weekends.

Level 3 with lift access, wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

BYO food and drinks welcome. No smoking, glitter, confetti or helium balloons. In-house photography is available for your event or shoot.

Cancellations for events starting within 7 days are non-refundable.
Event date of a confirmed booking can be changed to another date within 1 months from the original date, at no cost.
