FAQs about Top Wedding Venues in Melbourne

On average, couples start their venue hunt a year before the wedding, but no later than 9 months before. The wedding season falls anywhere between September to May, so if you’re planning a reception in that time frame, you should start your search ASAP to have the best option still available on your dream date.

Usually, wedding packages include the venue hire fee, catering, decorations, tables, chairs, and an open bar. However, it may depend on the type of wedding package you choose - basic wedding packages will include fewer extras than all-inclusive wedding packages.

There are no ground rules on who should pay for the wedding. It can be the bride and groom themselves, or their families who evenly split the costs between each other. So don’t be afraid to discuss that matter with your families, as it will help you draw up a reasonable wedding budget.

With a sprinkle of imagination, any venue can be transformed into the ideal space of your dreams! However, the most popular and inexpensive wedding venues are restaurants, bars, warehouses, lofts, and gardens. Spaces like art galleries, museums, or even zoos offer competitive prices, so they are also definitely worth considering!

Are There Waterfront Wedding Venues In Melbourne?

Right by Melbourne’s sparkling harbour, you can find modern wedding venues with jaw-dropping views over the water. Berth Docklands offers modern waterfront magic over Victoria Harbour, perfect for wedding parties of up to 150 standing guests, with indoor and outdoor spaces protected from Melbourne’s unpredictable weather. Nearby, Carousel in Albert Park delivers iconic lakeside elegance with a sweeping deck for outdoor ceremonies and a light-filled interior that can host up to 1000 standing guests. For a sophisticated riverside celebration, Aerial at South Wharf combines sleek design, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a neutral palette ideal for lush, garden-style setups, plus access to the Yarra River promenade for stunning photos.

How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Wedding Venue in Melbourne?

According to the data on our platform, pricing will vary across the city depending on venue type and location:

Booked Beer Garden at The Mint Bar & Restaurant
4.8
The Mint was very clean, very organised and looked spectacular! Lots of communication prior to the event to determine our preferences and how the night would work. Heaps of seating and standing spaces and it poured so heavy with rain but the outside section was still really nice with excellent heaters. It was truly great to have the entire venue to ourselves!!! .
