The Capitol Theatre is an historic theatre on Swanston Street in the heart of Melbourne. Opened in 1924 as part of the Capitol House building, this art deco theatre is the oldest of Melbourne's large picture palaces.

This venue is an extraordinary refurbished cinema and destination for events, festivals and live performances promoting culture, education and innovation. The Capitol features beautifully lit ceilings designed by Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin in ornate Chicago-gothic style.
