About this space

Victorian building in the heart of Fitzroy, three kilometres from Melbourne CBD. The Russian House has that kind of character you can't build from scratch - high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, polished floors, great acoustics and natural light pouring in. Up to 120 guests, 100 seated, on the first floor in the Emerald Hall.

Works well for private celebrations, boutique weddings, film and photo shoots, pop-up retail, product launches and regular classes or workshops.

Hire it dry and do it yourself - blank canvas, bring your own decor, choose your own vendors. The kitchen is fully equipped, BYO liquor licence in place, and tables and seating are included at no extra cost.

Or hand it over to the in-house team. They cover decor, AV, photography and floristry - everything sorted, nothing to stress about on the day.

Community space at its core - good team, relaxed atmosphere, honest pricing. NFP rates available, discounts for ongoing bookings. Security deposit and hourly duty manager fee may apply.

Host rules

Strict music cut off time due to the venue being located in a residential area. 10pm on weekdays and Sundays, 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

All information submitted by the hirer (ie purpose of the event, number of attendees) must be true and up to date. In the event where the hirer has submitted false or misleading information, The Russian House reserves the right to cancel the booking and no refund will be made to the hirer.

We booked the Emerald Hall on relatively short notice but Elmira was more than accomodating and very helpful through the entire process. She went out of her way to make sure all questions were answered and even took the time to show another room that may have been more suitable. The space itself has a professional and european architectural feel which was perfect for what we were looking for. During the actual day of the booking Elmira was again always very helpful and even took the time to setup the space before we even arrived. Definitely would recommend the space for anyone considering it for events, professional photoshoots, weddings or anything else - also thanks again to Elmira for the amazing service right from the start till the end aswell, cannot recommend highly enough.

Loved the central location and booking the venue was easy, payment via credit card and the name and number of a AV technician was given to me to liaise with on the day. Egor arrived early and was very professional and pleasant.
