About this space

Bar and Rear is a semi-private bar area in The Last Word, defined by an intimate, low-lit speakeasy-style interior.

Design: The room presents low ceilings, dark timber finishes and patterned wallpaper punctuated by vintage pendant lights and velvet curtains, giving the space a compact, tactile character.

Features: The bar provides full service from a staffed counter and a concise menu of cocktails, beer, wine and small plates. The space includes a PA system and speakers, allows guest playlists, and offers Wi-Fi. Accessibility provisions include a step-free guest entrance and wheelchair access, and the layout accommodates small live-music sets such as regular Sunday jazz.

Ideal for: Small social groups and friends seeking a relaxed, drink-focused standing reception or informal seated evening in an intimate setting.

What sets it apart: A continuous marble-topped service counter runs the length of the space, forming a clear central focal point for drinks and socializing.

What guests say: The bar provides friendly, attentive service and a well-curated playlist.
