How to Choose the Right Private Bar for Your Event

Here’s what to consider when booking:

  • Group Size – Some bars are perfect for 10–20 people; others can host over 100. Check minimum spend or room rental costs for private access.
  • Location – Think about accessibility. Midtown bars are great for corporate events, while Brooklyn has more creative, offbeat venues.
  • Ambience – Want something dark and moody? Or rooftop and scenic? Choose a spot that matches your crowd and occasion.
  • Drink Options – Some bars offer open bar packages, while others charge by consumption. Confirm what works best for your budget.
  • Food – Many venues offer small bites or full catering. Alternatively, look for bars that allow external food or caterers.
  • Entertainment – Need a DJ booth, live music setup, or karaoke machine? Ask about equipment and sound policies ahead of time.

Booking Tips for Cheap Bars

  • Book on weeknights for lower minimum spend
  • Look outside Manhattan for better value (check Bushwick, LIC, Astoria)
  • Ask about happy hour extensions or package deals
  • Opt for shorter time blocks (2–3 hours) if you're tight on budget
  • Choose bars with BYOB options or flexible food policies

No matter your crowd or occasion, there’s a private bar in NYC ready to make your celebration unforgettable. With Tagvenue, you’ll find hidden gems, neighborhood favorites, and stylish hotspots, all in one place. Start your search now and book the ideal space for your next big night out.

I had an incredible experience hosting my engagement party at this venue! The owner, staff, and everyone involved made the entire event seamless. The communication and planning were so easy from start to finish. They were incredibly accommodating to all my needs, and everything went smoothly. The bartenders were great, and even my DJ was impressed by the speakers and the setup. I couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special occasion. I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone I know and would definitely host another event here in the future!

Had my 30th birthday celebration here and it was the PERFECT venue. Everyone had enough space to move around and socialize but it wasn't too big that it felt awkward. Our bartender, Marcello, was wonderful and even helped my friends and I put up decorations before the party started. Only had to put a deposit down and got my money back after the event, so I didn't even have to pay for the space myself! HIGHLY recommend having your event here :)

STOP LOOKING... THIS IS THE SPOT FOR YOUR NEXT PARTY. The ReVision Lounge is not only the coolest spot to look at, it is backed by the most professional team to ensure your event goes off without a hitch. Let's start with the room-- gorgeous bar, stools with high back skis, separate dancing area, and an authentic car front end on the DJ booth, to name a few pluses. This room has the authentic gritty feel of the LES without the grit. You might expect a less-than-par mixed drink at a place like this but you'd be wrong... the bartenders mix up a serious cocktail! I guaranteed the bar minimum for the night so the room was all ours. More than enough room for our 50 guests, but not too big! Plus, the bartenders were so respectful of the fact that I was treating our guests so they were careful to only clear empty glasses, NOT half empty. Which brings me to the staff... behind the scenes, Megan was responsive and on top of her business. She covered every detail with me leading up to the event and then with the team on the night of the event... and that team was incredible!! They were attentive to our party details, kind to our guests and just happy to have us there. The guests could not stop gushing about what a cool vibe and great space it was. This was a night we'll never forget.

Our event was a raging success and BarDough was a huge factor! The staff was incredible - friendly, responsive and accommodating. We were in town from Atlanta and knowing that Parker and his team had everything taken care of and ready for us was truly priceless. Everyone had a blast and loved the food! Wish I could’ve brought Grace (the bartender) back home with us!

If you're looking to plan a special event, look no further than the Back Room at TØRST. From the location to the helpful staff, this is a perfect spot for a laid-back gathering. Our guest kept raving about the food, and it was so easy to plan with the help of Bartley and Chef Jared. Would book here again in a heartbeat!

Parker and the team at BarDough were great. Very helpful throughout the entire process of planning our event and accommodating to the dietary restrictions of our guests with a variety of menu options. They also offered us the option of using their covered rooftop space next door for our event which was perfect for our group of 35, allowed us to hook-up a playlist to the speakers, and of course the food and drinks were both tasty. Would definitely recommend this location for planning any events in NYC.

Booked Entire Space at Cafe Skye

Our experience with Cafe Skye couldn't have been better. We hosted our post marathon celebration there with close family and friends. The manager, Cameron, was incredibly responsive and thorough. He went above and beyond to create menus with custom drink specialties inspired by our event ("Slow as Shell" - spicy marg and "Sole Crusher" - espresso martini). He was very communicative leading up to the event and on the day of the event, it couldn't have gone better. There was plenty of space - outdoor seating available, the food was DELICIOUS, and the drinks were delicious. Derek who was working that night was so friendly and efficient with getting everything out to us. Overall, 12/10 experience. Will definitely come back!

Booked NENA (Event Space and Bar) at Jajaja Mexicana West Village

I cannot recommend this place enough! The bar is new and not yet open to the public, but when it is, I'm sure it will blow up! The bar itself is intimate and beautiful, in a great location, with amazing, unique drinks (big fan of the coconut and matcha). But more importantly- I CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH the staff!!! They were the most lovely, helpful people ever. Everyone from the event organizers, the bartenders, the security, to the GM was incredibly accommodating and super hands on. If I'm ever hosting an event again, this will be the first place I come to!
