Singapore is a city with an exciting range of wedding venues. However, if you are trying to plan a wedding on a budget, you need to carry out your hunt carefully. Singapore is an amazing place, but it can be expensive (like most cities!). A wedding on a budget can be managed though, you just need to think outside the box.
Venue prices rely strongly on the number of guests and the day you choose for your wedding. When you ask about renting a venue, confirm how many guests will be covered in their offer. And check for days or times when rates are lower. Also, don’t be afraid to look around the city in your quest. Want an inexpensive wedding near the water? Consider the Riverfront or Marina Bay.
The Harbourfront is another place to start, and banquet halls there, such as Ban Heng, can be a good choice for a large party. The downtown core is another good place to check. Some of the venues there, like Maison Miaja, offer a selection of function rooms for a number of different-sized wedding parties. There are also ballrooms, as well as wedding halls on offer for cheap across the city, check out the Joo Chiat and Katong districts for some great options.
If you are looking to spice things up a little, consider some alternative venues and ideas. It’s quite common in Singapore to get a solemniser to come to the wedding venue, but you can consider moving the ceremony to the city’s marriage registry office instead. Afterwards, you can definitely keep costs down by heading out to a restaurant or bar. Singapore also has some beautiful parks, so how about moving your wedding outside? Places like Hort Park can be hired throughout the city - some will allow you to self-cater or do the decorating yourself. If you are looking for a beach wedding, Sentosa and East Coast Park are great options. You can hit the beach directly, or investigate one of the city’s many oceanside venues.
You may be planning your upcoming wedding with an eye on your wallet, but just remember you’ve got plenty of options. So check out Tagvenue’s many venue choices today!
Dear bride/groom on a budget! If you’d like to pull off your dream wedding without breaking the bank, make sure that you know all the tricks that will help you make it happen. Below, we’ve listed some helpful (but less popular) tips that can make all the difference in your planning process. Make sure to read them carefully, and thank us later.
Set your budget - Ensure that this is the first step you take. Write down the ideal amount of money you’d like to pay for venue rental, catering, decorations, entertainment, vendors, etc. It will keep you reasonable and help you make the best decisions for both your wallet and your dream wedding. Also, at this point, you should also decide what things are the most important to you. If you don’t care to have plenty of decorations, you can allocate that sum to, for example, venue rental, and pick a space that looks amazing without any additional touch-ups .
Trim down your guest list - How about making the whole event intimate and inviting fewer guests than you initially planned? Reducing the guestlist to a minimum can significantly lower your final wedding costs, so such an option is definitely worth considering!
Book during the week - Are you flexible with picking your wedding date? If so, consider taking it off-weekend! Having a wedding in the middle of the week will give you a chance to negotiate with the venue managers about the rental fee.
Serve signature drinks - Instead of an open bar, consider coming up with signature drinks for this special occasion. Guests will feel that they’re getting something special, while you can save plenty of money on alcohol! However, we still suggest having at least one classic drink, in case someone is not fond of crazy drinks.
Hunt for wedding sales - Are you a sales hunter? If not, try to become one for this special occasion! You can really cut down on your costs by buying your wedding attire, decorations, and accessories on sale. Visit wedding boutiques at the end of the season, as usually, they prepare special offers to get ready for a new collection. You can also try your luck on different e-commerce sites, such as Etsy, eBay, Amazon, etc.
Book your vendors well in advance - Once you set your date, act fast and book your vendors. You’ll have a greater chance of getting them at affordable rates. If you wait until the last minute, you may find fewer options that cost much more than you initially wanted to pay. Also, you may consider hiring photographers or DJs who have just started out! They usually offer lower rates to get recognition and experience, which doesn’t mean they won’t do their job like true professionals.
Most wedding venues offer great packages for about S$60 to S$160+ per person. This price includes the venue rental fee, food and beverages, and any other details that you might want to include (flowers, cake, etc.). But we highly suggest asking for an individual offer which will be calculated based on exactly your number of guests. (All data from Tagvenue.com.)
When it comes to hiring wedding venues, you should reach out at least 9 months to a year in advance. The earlier you reach out to the venue manager, the better the chance of getting the specific date you want and the better prepared they will be for your big day. Also, you’ll likely get a better rate!
Start your search in Chinatown. There, you can find an array of chic venues that don’t break the bank. Another great area to check out is the neighbouring River Valley where you can find both intimate backdrops, as well as spacious restaurants.
Most of them do! However, make sure to discuss that with the venue manager. Some may not provide in-house catering, however, they can recommend you a list of internal caterers they closely cooperate with on a daily basis. In such a case, you can get a much more attractive offer.
