About this space

Dovetail Patio is a Private outdoor space in Viceroy Washington; it is an architecturally framed outdoor room that reads as an organised extension of the hotel's interiors.

Design: The patio presents clean, contemporary lines with pale stone paving, timber-framed tables and grey upholstered chairs set against planted green walls. The arrangement uses symmetry, pendant lighting and layered seating to create a tidy, restrained appearance.

Features: The space contains a staffed service counter, a mix of dining tables, lounge seating and a central high table. The patio provides integrated PA/speakers, venue Wi‑Fi, permission for own music and the option to bring a DJ, and it is wheelchair accessible.

Ideal for: Social groups and corporate teams seeking a relaxed, social standing reception or an informal seated meal.

What guests say: The patio is stylish and aligned with the hotel's intimate boutique character, and the adjacent dining receives repeated positive mention.

Birthday Party · 40 guests · April 2026
The venue itself is beautiful. The patio is decorated so well it’s perfect for a spring party. It’s covered and they have heaters in case it’s chilly and there’s lots of tables, space, and great places for taking photos.
The actual venue was the only positive thing I can say about this venue though. It was a struggle from the beginning to get any communication from them or get back someone to speak on the phone. Their event manager works very restrictive hours so if you work a 9 to 5, there’s no way that you’d be able to get in to see the venue while she’s there. Which I understand, but then they need to have some other option for you to go see the venue after normal work hours. But what was even more frustrating was how hard it was to get her on the phone. I don’t know if she was purposefully dodging me or again just worked very restrictive hours and lacked another option for people who work full time. Their options for food and drink packages were okay but way overpriced for what they were. But the hardest part was getting them to explain how their minimum worked. Once I finally got to speak to someone, she explained that I had to put the whole deposit down, and that purchases at the party would go toward the minimum and the difference would be refunded to me if we hit the minimum. After this discussion though, she handed me off to somebody else. Unknown to me at the time, they had not communicated about anything I discussed with the first manager. So while I thought everything I had wanted had been communicated, when I arrive at the party, they had no idea what I was talking about. And to be fair, the bartender and manager who was physically at the party were wonderful. They really tried to pivot and make things work for what I wanted. But after the party when I asked about the refund the two people I had originally talked to both claimed to not have any idea what I was talking about and that they could not accommodate me. This resulted in a $1500 loss on my end because of “confusion” around the minimum. It was terrible communication throughout the entire process and it took multiple emails for them to even get back to me about the refund. They obviously thought I would let it go and be able to sweep it under the rug. Ultimately, they offered me a partial refund still resulting in $1000 loss for me and despite me asking to talk to a higher level manager, they refused to connect me with anyone else. I understand that there was confusion about the minimum, but it is because of their lack of communication that it was an issue in the first place. It’s such a shame because like I said, the venue is beautiful. There’s such great potential there, but they obviously have either not had many events and need to work on their process or they just simply don’t care and are used to bullying people to get what they want. So if you do want to book this venue, be extra careful with what you say, who you say it to, and get everything in writing.
