About Baba Chews Restaurant
Baba Chews is a restaurant inspired by our neighbourhood - Katong. The name “Baba Chews” pays homage to Mr. Chew Joo Chiat (1857–1926), a wealthy local Chinese landowner and philanthropist, known as the ‘King of Katong’ for his contributions to the local community. Our restaurant sits on the site of the former Joo Chiat Police Station (1928 – 1987), which was granted conservation status by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore for its architectural & heritage value.
