Upstairs Private Event Space at The Actress & Bishop

the venue was lovely, very traditional and rustic. Organiser was amazing, Katie was very patient during the prior arrangements. All staff on the night were great clearly all worked very hard and were all so friendly and approachable, great night thanks to them. Food was great and so worth the money, they had great attention to detail with various dietary requirements.

The DJ was not very good unfortunately, he had no modern music at all, i asked for some recent chart music he replied with the best he had was Beyonce. I had a number of complaints on the night and people constantly asking for me to get the music changed. I did my best.

We held our wedding after party there on the 11th Nov Excellent correspondence from venue Co ordinator Katie nothing was too much trouble answering emails quickly and efficiently. On the evening dj was fabulous , catering went down a treat bar staff even though busy were very professional. We went back next day to clear up most of it was done just a few Bits to sort. The cleaner was amazing when I started to bag rubbish up , she said I'll do that don't worry about it . Everyone at the party commented on how fab the room was . Would definitely recommend and use again.

The room is a great layout with lots of tables and chairs which you can choose. We were allowed to decorate however we wanted and the food and set up were on time. Ola was really friendly and offering help, as was the bartender but i didnt catch their name. Kate was brilliant throughout as well. The sound engineer was kinda bothered he didn't have all the details (not my fault, I wasn't asked any of his questions in advance) but chilled out once the event got going. Great that you can't hear the music from downstairs and the light and fog machines were great. The sound guy also tried to help get a last minute performer for us when he heard ours may have dropped out. We weren't a massive group so the bar was never busy, but there was never a wait. It was also a queer prom themed event and the staff were enthusiastic about it and put on pronoun stickers by choice. We had a brilliant time.

The room wasn't very clean, when setting up I had to find spray and cloths and dustpan and brushes to clean up. The food was tasty but could have done with individual labels as quite a few people couldn't tell what they could eat (there were vegan/veggie signs but big so you couldn't tell for sure) There's this one bartender who has soured our experience every time I've been into view the venue and the night of the party (i asked Ola to make sure she wasn't the one to serve us, as she was on shift the day of the party) she's just truly miserable, literally stares at you when you try and speak to her and looks at you like you're a massive inconvenience and need to get out of her way. (If this had been once I would have figured maybe she was having an off day but I saw her on 3 separate days and every time was the same.) Interacting with her ahead of the party genuinely made me worried for the party, if she was representative of the staff here (she isnt, it turns out everyone else is great). I hope this doesn't come across as nasty, but she's genuinely bad enough that I think it's worth pointing out to let the venue know and a heads up for people to know if they meet her first she isn't an example of what everyone is like there

Great venue. Helpful staff. Will definitely use again.
