Safety guidelines for planning an event in Sydney, Australia during the COVID-19 period

We know it can be difficult to keep up with all the COVID-19 related regulations, especially when it comes to what kinds of events can take place and how many guests are allowed. To help you better understand, we have prepared a summary to update you on the most current safety rules that apply to venues. Keep in mind that even though most venues will follow such guidelines, we would still recommend reaching out to the venue you intend to book to find out in detail how their capacity has changed.

Stay at home orders apply to Greater Sydney including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour until 11.59pm on Friday 30 July 2021

After 9 July the restrictions are expected to go back to:

General venue operation and event hosting guidelines

  • There are no restrictions on dancing and singing at venues and events including nightclubs, weddings, funerals and memorial services
  • Nightclubs may open
  • Up to 200 people can gather in an outdoor public place such as a park, reserve, beach, garden or public space

Weddings

  • If you are the organiser of a significant event you will need to have and comply with a relevant COVID-19 Safety Plan
