Safety guidelines for planning an event in Sydney, Australia during the COVID-19 period

We know it can be difficult to keep up with all the COVID-19 related regulations, especially when it comes to what kinds of events can take place and how many guests are allowed. To help you better understand, we have prepared a summary to update you on the most current safety rules that apply to venues. Keep in mind that even though most venues will follow such guidelines, we would still recommend reaching out to the venue you intend to book to find out in detail how their capacity has changed.

General venue operation and event hosting guidelines

  • Venues may operate at a reduced capacity based on the 4 square metre social distance rule indoors, 2 square metre rule outdoors (maximum capped at 300 guests)
  • Maximum of 30 people per booking or per table
  • Nightclubs will remain closed for the foreseeable future

Weddings

  • From 1 December 2020, up to 300 attendees allowed, subject to the 2 square metre rule indoors and 4 square metre rule outdoors
  • Up to 20 people in the official wedding party are permitted on the dance floor

Corporate Events

  • Up to 300 attendees allowed, subject to the 4 square metre rule
