North Sydney saw an explosion of activity in the early 1970s. 27 were skyscrapers built in just two years and it became a central hub for business in the city. Thanks to this, the area is full of great conference centres and many renowned restaurants, cafes and bars. Miller Street makes up the spine of the North Sydney area while St Leonards Park is a popular hit with both local residents and workers on their lunch breaks.
Location is such an obvious factor when deciding where to hold your function, sometimes so obvious that people can overlook it. Booking a venue around Pacific Highway in the North Sydney area means you’ll be on a good road and close to public transportation hubs, too.
Should you want a large room with the possibility of using in-house catering, it’s no problem to find a few places in North Sydney. Indeed, if you’re after something more intimate and cosy you can even book rooms for as little as four people with or without catering facilities. Just off Pacific Highway, you’ll find more event venues on Walker Street.
For the most part, events held in North Sydney tend to be of a business nature. However, it’s also a great area to hold large private functions like weddings and engagement parties. Many of the rooms available for hire are available at competitive rates, often much lower than on the other side of the harbour. If you’re after something more intimate, the cafes, bars and restaurants in the area will be more than happy to host your event.
Along McDougall Street, you’ll find a bunch of small, hip cafes with some amazing coffee and snacks. All this is topped off with picturesque views across Sydney Harbour. While in the CBD area of North Sydney, we recommend hitting up the restaurants and bars along Walker Street and their function rooms.
