Wedding Venues Hire Guide

Choosing a wedding venue is no easy task. If you have no idea what's on offer, it's even more challenging to decide where to start! To help you get started, here are some of the most common types of venues found in Leeds:

  • Hotels are the most common type of wedding venue you'll come across in Leeds. Having hotel rooms in the same building is convenient for out of town guests, as well as the couple's wedding night. Hotels typically work on either a dry hire fee for the venue or, if you require catering and extras, a combination of venue fee and per person rates.
  • Halls are great if you're looking for a venue on a budget or a blank canvas to design your dream wedding. These spaces are often quite large, which is good news if you’re looking to invite a lot of guests. Halls usually work with hire fees and don't come with any extras. In most cases, the venue will provide tables and chairs – you need to bring in everything else.
  • Multi-purpose venues are also commonly found in Leeds. These spaces are usually laid out in a specific way with all the furniture, decor, lights and sound installed. If you're looking for a no-fuss wedding venue, booking a versatile space is definitely the way to go. These typically cost a little more, but everything is provided, including in-house catering services. Multi-purpose venues usually work on a minimum spend rate structure. If you have a large guest list, a minimum spend will easily be met through food and drinks. You also have the option to pay for the food and have a cash bar for wedding guests to buy their own drinks.

In case you're looking for some inspiration, or you just want to know what's possible, these are the most popular types of weddings hosted in Leeds:

  • Rustic weddings are the preferred choice for free-spirited or hippie couples. These weddings are minimalistic while the ceremony is often held outside. On the outskirts of Leeds, you’ll find a range of boho venues that are perfect for rustic weddings.
  • With the city’s diverse community, Asian weddings are especially popular in Leeds. Asian weddings are large, vibrant and often carry over several days. The wedding venues found in Leeds are accommodating to all sorts of cultural weddings and ceremonies.
  • Alternative weddings are growing in popularity. Couples who may not be traditional or religious often prefer something quirky and one-of-a-kind. Some examples of alternative weddings in Leeds include medieval weddings, quirky receptions fancy dress or even cross-cultural ceremonies for mixed religion couples.
  • Last but not least, how about an intimate wedding? Leeds has many small wedding venues on offer with spaces to accommodate as little as 50-60 people without the room feeling oversized or empty.

Where are the best wedding venues in Leeds?

Some of the best wedding venues are going to be found directly in the city centre. Centrally located wedding venues are the most accessible for anyone coming from outside the city and within it. If you want to hire a venue somewhere a bit quieter, then look for venues near Roundhay Park.

How do I save money for my wedding?

When people think of weddings, they think of huge price tags. The venue cost alone is usually approximately 30%. However, it is possible to control costs for your wedding. If you are concerned about spending too much, the first thing you need to do is have an itemised budget so you can follow your expenditures at every step. Outside of that, seek less popular dates for your wedding and nontraditional venues like studios, cafes, or blank canvas venues.

Booked The Hidden Library at The Lost and Found Greek Street
This is a wonderful venue for intimate and small events. We had our wedding here and had 30 guests. The staff are lovely and are very approachable. They are always there when I needed them during the event. There is a mini bar at the front and the food served was delicious. Our guests loved how cozy it is and enjoyed the programme. Minimal decorations are only needed since the place itself is already beautiful.
