Party Venues Hire Guide

Each of Brisbane’s areas has its own style and flavour. This is reflected in the party venues within them. Here’s a handy guide to each of these districts and what you should expect to find party-wise:

  • CBD – A bustling area of business, the city centre lets its hair down at night and presents a variety of party places. It’s always chic, but diverse in style! You can expect to find high-level restaurants, stylish terraces and lounges with bars. The beautiful areas close to Brisbane Central station, Edward Street and Elizabeth Street, are also easy to reach and find. Well suited to office parties and corporate gatherings, it’s just as great for private parties and landmark celebrations.
  • South Brisbane – With its stock ever-rising, South Brisbane is a real city hotspot. A short trip over the river will take you right to the heart of the district. Choose from many chilled-out themed bars and restaurants, enjoy a relaxing drink or chow down on some delicious street food. Again, it’s superbly located, served by its own train station. Most venues are lying off Grey Street or on the riverside. Ideal for birthday parties, small gatherings, and after-work drinks, put your feet up and enjoy the casual vibe of this hip area.
  • Fortitude Valley – A district dedicated to the arts and entertainment, here you’ll find all manner of large and versatile party spaces. Most of them include different rooms with plenty of seating and interesting decor. With the majority of venues being positioned on busy roads, such as Wickham Street and Ann Street, there’s always something to catch the eye. Attracting crowds from all over, Fortitude Valley plays host all different kinds of parties, from large to small, corporate to casual.

Regarding price, most venues operate with a per person fee, while many also use minimum spend. Per person prices can go as low as $15. Most rates, however, lie around the $55 to $65 mark. For minimum spend, expect a range of fees depending on the type of venue and day of the week. Whole venues are usually in excess of $10,000, while some even go as high as $30,000. More specific rooms hover around the $4000 to $7000 mark, but there are also bargains to be found, with some venues going as low as $100. Depending on the type of party you’re throwing, devising a sensible budget will help you know what types of places you can target. All this can be sorted by using Tagvenue’s comprehensive venue finder.

FAQs about Party Venues in Brisbane

Can I hire a party venue in Brisbane on a budget?

Yes, you can find an affordable venue in Brisbane that won't cost you a lot. A venue operating on a minimum spend basis won't charge you a fee for hiring it, but you have to agree to spend a certain amount of money on food and drinks. To save some cash, look for venues that have a BYO policy and allow you to bring your own food and drinks to the venue. You can also look for venues offering party packages, as these may have some money-saving deals.

Can I bring my own alcohol to a party venue in Brisbane?

If you want to bring your own alcohol, discussing this with the venue beforehand is best, as only some venues have a BYO policy. If you’re allowed to bring your own alcohol, make sure whether or not you’ll have to pay a corkage fee. To help you find venues with such a policy, click on the ‘BYO alcohol allowed’ filter and choose your option from the listed venues.

Can I decorate the party venue in Brisbane on my own?

Whether or not you can decorate the party space on your own depends on the venue. Some will give you a free hand in decorating, while others may not allow any changes to their rooms. Some venues may offer decorations of their own for an extra charge. To make sure you can decorate the venue to match your party, talk to the venue manager before you make your final booking.

Booked Laneway Bar at The Mix Bar
Mick was so easy to organise my party through. He was very accomodating and would always be available to talk to and responded instantly to any questions. He even organised some specific drinks last minute that they normally don’t stock and all my guests loved the space. I would recommend the laneway bar for any function and Mick made the process of booking and hosting a party so easy. Thanks again Mick and the staff that worked that night!

Booked Venue Hire at The Station
This is a great multifunctional room for a good price. It can accommodate formal settings but also informal ones. I rented this room for a student event with 30 people and for that it was perfect. There were folding chairs and tables, fridges for drinks, a toilet, and a speaker that we could use. Even though the location is in a residential area, the location is particularly suitable to host an event with music as long as you respect the near environment. The owner was really helpful and friendly.
