A unique and special place for events
We actually hired the Crypt under the Church and not the Church itself! Though both are excellent venue choices. The crypt space itself is beautiful - very unique with the arched ceiling. We loved the atmosphere it provided. Also gave off great acoustics! The green room is spacious and welcoming, kitchen access was great as could chill the drinks. All staff that I encountered were lovely, very very helpful and nice to partner with. The onsite team on the day were great - the stage was set up just as we wanted - huge thanks to Martin! The fact that it was a dry hire meant that it was great value for money in a very central part of town. Only issue was Majestic Drury Lane delivered the drinks very late - nothing to do with the Crypt but a warning to future customers - dont use them! I highly recommend this venue! We will be back!
Very minor point... The uplighters were not perfect for our lighting needs - but we managed to wedge them into place for the gig! Majestic Drury Lane really let us down. Use another vendor when having drinks delivered there.
The venue was perfect for my event--it had to resemble an underground station and it did. The truly outstanding thing was the help I received not only from the guy setting up the PA for me but from the reception/admin office who found the right adaptor cable for my Apple so that sound files and films could be shown. Do book the parking space if you are unloading--there is not much parking in Clerkenwell. The kitchen is a great space--do rent it even if you are providing your own catering as I did. There were plenty of tables and chairs and cleaning up was easy. The garbage and recycling was easily dealt with. The church itself is gorgeous and there is a little area outside ideal for getting your car off the street to unload stuff. The price for a central London venue of this quality is very reasonable.
They are very open about it, but this a very old church. There are steps up and then steep steps down to the venue. I did not invite any disabled friends, which was bad of me I know. The guy helping me unload my car slipped on the rainy steps and slammed his knee badly.
Would recommend and use again
