About this space
With stone angels gazing down from the pillars and stained glass windows casting rainbow light all around, this majestic space is glorious to behold. The spectacular Emmanuel’s Land Window, rededicated in 2008 after a three-year restoration, occupies a prominent spot high on the left side of the nave.
Seating a maximum of 650 people, it has excellent acoustics, which draw musical and performing organizations from our city, region, and overseas year round.

Emmanuel Church, a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, serves the community of greater Boston as a dynamic center for spiritual discovery and renewal.
Our building is a home and resource for a dynamic group of programs and organizations who partner with us to preserve this historic structure and project our ideals of justice, spirituality, and art into the community of the Boston metropolitan area.
Emmanuel Church was built for a large and affluent congregation, which migrated to the suburbs during the mid-twentieth century, leaving a small congregation responsible for a large, historic, and expensive edifice.
