The Tasting Room is a perfect place for whisky lovers to enjoy high-quality single cask whiskies during tastings and small get-togethers. One special feature is the original ‘uisge cupboard,’ which belonged to Mr. J.G. Thomson in the 1600s.

TASTINGS
Experience the world of single cask whiskies in an exclusive, private setting. Our expert SMWS ambassador will take you on a journey through the history, craftsmanship, and distinct flavours of whisky-making. Perfect for intimate gatherings, this bespoke tasting experience offers an unforgettable exploration of whisky’s finest expressions.

We offer the following tasting options:
3 Drams: Members: £29 | Non-members: £39
4 Drams: Members: £34 | Non-members: £44
5 Drams: Members: £39 | Non-members: £49

Room hire will be waived if a whisky tasting is booked for 6 or more.
If no whisky tasting is booked, or there are fewer than 6 people, room hire will apply at all times

Our seasonal menus celebrate Scotland’s culinary heritage, crafted with the finest local and seasonal ingredients to complement our exceptional whiskies. We ask that you select one starter, one main, and one dessert that will be presented to all your guests on the night of the event.

The spiritual home of the Society, traditional and eclectic in its appearance, with a magnificent selection of single cask whisky and spirits. The history of the building dates back as far as the 12th century, with the current building completed in 1787. Originally a wine merchants bonded warehouse, we are continuing its affiliation to the wine and spirits industry, having been our home since 1983.

A trusted hostelry for our valued members and their guests, we pride ourselves on a warm welcome at our members’ room and whisky bar in the heart of Leith, with spectacular drams and a flavour-focused menu all combining to create the community that is SMWS.
