Host rules

- A room hire fee is required to secure your booking. This is NON-REFUNDABLE & NON-TRANSFERABLE.

- Any pre ordered food & drink, must be be paid for and the full balance settled 2 weeks prior to the event date.

- Minimum spends will apply to private hire functions. If a minimum spend is not met, the outstanding balance must be made up and settled before the group’s departure on the evening. We will not invoice after the event.

- Please note, we are a Cashless venue and will not accept cash payments for any deposits, pre-payments or payments on the day.

- If anyone under the age of 18 attempts to buy alcohol or is found consuming alcohol on the premises, we will have to ask them to leave the party and if it happens too often we will consider closing the bar for the sale of alcohol.

- We can not allow anyone under 18 in our Clubroom past 8pm Sun - Thu and past 5pm Fri - Sat.

- For any reservations for an 18th, 19th, 20th or 21st birthday party (with 80 guests or more for a 21st) we kindly ask for an additional fee for security for the evening. This will be invoiced separately and will not go towards your minimum spend.

There was one or two helpful member of staff, booking the venue itself was easy and it was a really reasonable price for Edinburgh City centre
If I couldn't get hold of the one or two helpful people, nothing got done. Phones and emails weren't answered or there was a long delay on replies, I had to wait for a seasonal menu - which was fine - but then had to chace multiple times to get this and was eventually given the wrong thing, which the venue wouldn't honour so I had to back round all guests again with their event menu very close to the time final info was needed, although a 2 day extension was given to help with this. The final cost was more than had been advised (£28 a head) as a service charge was included before the event and the bill was therefore more than I had advised people it would be. I had to ask to have this removed as I don't feel comfortable tipping before service and the experience up to the had been poor. At the event despite place names being out at all seats I needed to walk round each setting with a member of staff and read the names out to them instead of them reading them themselves. The food was okay, chicken goujons were overcooked and some people had their mains taken away before they were finished

Food and service was excellent, very attentive staff who seemed to genuinely want us to have the most amazing day, which we did!
My only complaint is that the clubroom doubles as the hotel's reception and people were walking in and out with bags during speeches etc. I think if possible the venue should consider directing hotel goers through the main bar when there are events in the clubroom.
