Our guide to Oxford venue hire
Known for its university but perhaps not so much for the town itself, Oxford offers much to any event organiser. The town itself is historic, breathtaking and beautiful, with striking architecture, cobblestone backstreets and an unforgettable ambience. Easy to reach from the major cities of London and Birmingham, it is not hard to imagine why someone would choose to hold their event, whether professional or personal, here. A few key things to keep in mind when planning your next event in Oxford:
- High Street offers easy access to the colleges of world-famous Oxford University, which does have rooms and spaces for hire, by the way. However, as the site of so much international traffic, the streets around the university are also a likely place to find meeting spaces and hotels. Head west from Botley Rd for some great choices. This busy atmosphere is another reason why the city offers large and high standard conference venues in almost every part of the city.
- George Street is the main artery of central Oxford and offers many restaurants and pubs for that very reason. Look here for larger, and more commercial establishments. If you are hoping to find a place with a more individual flair, look towards Jericho which features pubs, cocktail bars with a cool vibe and a range of ethnic restaurants and cafes, Walton Street in particular. If you favour an even more laid back vibe, check out the area around Cowley Road which tends towards the gastropub and record store crowd. You will not escape the student crowd in this town in most venues, but that can be part of its charm.
